PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team scored nine runs over the first three innings and added one more in the eighth to lift the Bears to a 10-0 win in eight innings over Bryant on Tuesday afternoon at Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium.

Senior DJ Dillehay went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, sophomore Alex Benevento was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and an RBI, freshman Matt Luigs scored twice and had an RBI single, and junior Andrew Hanlon had had two hits with two runs scored and an RBI. Sophomore Christina Butera also reached base twice with a walk and solo homer, and senior Mika Peetrsen collected two RBIs.

On the mound, sophomore Bryan Yang tossed 4.0 scoreless innings on four hits and three strikeouts. Junior Brenden Kline got the win in relief with 2.0 scoreless innings, and Camren Piwnicki allowed one hit over 2.0 scoreless innings. Bryant finished the game with six hits, only two of which left the infield.

Brown put up four runs in the first inning for the quick lead. Benevento lined an RBI double to left field to score Luigs, Dillehay followed with a sac fly, Petersen knocked in a run on a fielder's choice as Benevento hustled home, and Butera capped the inning with a 387-foot home run to left center field.

Brown put three more on the board in the second to take a 7-0 lead. Hanlon led off with a double, Henshon later walked, then Dillehay knocked both runners in with a single. Petersen then plated another run with an RBI single.

Hanlon made it 8-0 in the third with an RBI single, and Luigs later added a sacrifice fly.

With two Bryant runners aboard with one out in the fourth, Logan Meusy made a spectacular leaping catch in left field, slammed into the wall, then got up to double the runner off second base for an inning ending double play.

The Bears didn't score again until the eighth inning. After a single, error and walk loaded the bases with nobody out, Dillehay stepped in and bounced one back up the middle into center field to score Luigs from third with the game-ending mercy rule run.

The Bears will return to action this weekend with a three-game Ivy League series at Harvard. First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is set for 11:30 a.m. on ESPN+.
