Softball Hosts Cornell For Three Game Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball will host Cornell for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday.
The series will begin with a single game on Friday at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Brown will play a doubleheader beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday will be Brown's Pride Day as the Bears will partner with the Brown LGBTQ Center. The Bears will also be handing out visors to fans who are in attendance.
ABOUT BROWN
- Brown is coming off a three-game sweep at Harvard and the Bears have dropped six games overall since beating Bryant on March 28.
- Moe Kastens has been on a tear collecting eight hits over the seven games last week, including three two-hit games. Kastens now leads the team with a .324 batting average for qualified batters and has a team-high five doubles.
- Lily Berlinger has taken advantage of moving into the starting role with 10 hits in her last eight games. Berlinger had a seven-game hit-streak snapped in the series finale at Harvard. Berlinger currently leads the team with an eight-game reached base streak.
- Laurel Moody is riding a six-game reached base streak and leads the Bears with five multi-hit games. Brown's starting catcher is hitting .283 on the season and has a team-high 17 hits.
- Jasmine Hsiao continues to lead Brown's lineup with four home runs, 12 runs scored and 10 walks.
- In the circle, Alexis Guevara leads the team with a 2.50 ERA in a team-high 72.2 innings pitched. Guevara has made 12 starts and is 4-7 on the season with 56 strikeouts to just 21 walks.
- Jodie Aguirre is second on the team with a 3.77 ERA. The junior has allowed just three earned runs in her last 11 innings and has eight strikeouts.
ABOUT CORNELL
- Cornell is 9-14 on the season and 3-3 in Ivy League play. The Big Red lost three-straight non-conference games leading into the weekend.
- Cornell won two out of three games against Harvard to start Ivy League play but then lost two of three against Yale last weekend.
- Melia Macari leads the offense with 21 hits and a .300 batting average. As a team, Cornell is hitting .237 on the year and has been outscored 111-86. Despite being outhit 191-145 on the season, Cornell has more doubles (34-27) and more home runs (20-16) than its opponents.
- Gabrielle Maday is leading Cornell's pitching staff with a 3.00 ERA had has a 4-4 record with seven starts. Maday leads the team with 30 strikeouts but has also issued a team-high 12 walks.
LAST SEASON
- Brown took two of three games at Cornell last season with all three games decided by three runs. Brown won the first game 3-0 and took the season finale 5-2 in eight innings.
