PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team jumped in front early on Harvard, but the Crimson used a pair of late runs to pull away and outlast the Bears by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Mika Petersen reached base three times via two hits and walk and scored the Bears' lone run. Freshman shortstop DJ Dillehay added two hits and an RBI. Fellow first-year Dylan Reid got the start on the mound and allowed four hits and one earned run over 5.0 innings of work with four walks. Each team left nine runners on base.

Brown scored in the first inning when Petersen launched a double off the left centerfield fence with one out, then came home on a single to left field by Dillehay to give Brown the 1-0 lead.

Harvard came back to tie the score with a one-out walk and two-out RBI single in the second inning. They took the lead in the fourth inning, courtesy of a leadoff double and a two-out infield single.

Brown threatened to tie the game in the middle innings, getting a man into scoring position in the fifth and putting two on with nobody out in the sixth, but were unable to score.

Still protecting a one-run lead entering the ninth, the Crimson came up with two big insurance runs coming on a triple, double and single.

Brown will continue its current 10-game homestand this weekend when it welcomes Dartmouth to Providence to kick off a three-game series. Game one of Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
