SCHEDULE ALERT/PREVIEW: Baseball Series with Penn Moved to Friday/Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Due to the expected inclement weather in the Northeast this weekend, Brown baseball has announced that this weekend's scheduled three-game series with Penn will now be played on Friday and Saturday. Friday's single game will take place at 3:30 p.m. followed by Saturday's doubleheader starting at 11:30 a.m. at Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium.

SCOUTING BROWN (7-18, 4-5 Ivy)
- Brown vaulted itself back into Ivy League postseason contention last weekend with a three-game sweep at Cornell by scores of 12-8, 1-0 and 5-2, before falling 12-5 at home against URI on Tuesday.
- Senior catcher Jacob Burley has reached base in 20 consecutive games, picking up hits in 17 of those contests. He leads the Bears with a .344 batting average, 31 hits and is second on the team with 17 runs. He also leads qualifying players with a .439 on-base pct.
- Senior outfielder and leadoff batter Derian Morphew had his first career two-homer game against URI on Tuesday, making solid contact in all five of his plate appearances, and just missing his third homer of the game that was robbed by a leaping catch at the wall.
- Morphew has reached base in 14 of his last 15 games and has a hit in 13 of those games.
- Freshman Mika Petersen has a 12-game hitting streak entering Friday and has reached base in 14 straight games. Last weekend, he went 6-for-12 with three runs scored and two RBIs and a walk at Cornell.
- Freshman DJ Dillehay has a 14-game hitting streak and holds a .340 batting average, having a hit in all 13 of his starts.
- Freshman second baseman Mark Henshon was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after going 5-for-9 with two walks and three runs scored in his first three career starts last weekend at Cornell. He has reached base in each of his last four games.
- As a pitching staff, Brown struck out 37 batters, issued 10 walks and held Cornell to a .210 batting average over the three games.
- Sophomore Santhosh Gottam pitched into the eighth inning of Saturday's 1-0 win, tossing 7.0+ innings (career-long) while striking out a career-high eight batters. It marked the first time in his career that he did not allow an earned run in an outing of at least 5.0 innings.
- Senior Tobey McDonough allowed just one run on three hits over 5.2 innings to earn the win in Sunday's finale, and tied his career-high with eight strikeouts.
- Closer Jack Seppings pitched all three games at Cornell and earned two saves, striking out eight over 4.2 innings.
SCOUTING PENN (17-11, 6-3 Ivy)
- Penn is coming off a 15-4, eight-inning trouncing of Villanova on Wednesday afternoon.
- As a team, the Quakers rank second in the Ivy League with a .291 batting average and lead the Ancient Eight with a 4.00 ERA, nearly two runs better than the next closest team (Yale-5.81).
- Davis Baker leads the team and ranks fifth in the Ivy League with a .365 batting average, and is sixth with a .446 on-base.
- Wyatt Henseler leads the Ivy League with 41 RBIs, eight more than the next closest player.
- Owen Coady leads the Ivy League with a 2.48 ERA and holds opponents to a league-low .171 batting average. He has struck out 52 batters over 40.0 innings.
- Ryan Dromboski is second in the Ivy League with 53 strikeouts over 35.1 innings and is holding opponents to a .194 average.
- Dromboski is the reigning Ivy League Pitcher of the Week after setting a school record with 15 strikeouts in last Sunday's win over Princeton.
