Gymnastics Posts 194.600 at Maryland Quad Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Coming off last weekend's Ivy Classic championship at home, the Brown gymnastics team scored 194.600 in a quad meet on Sunday at No. 25 Maryland, featuring the host Terrapins, New Hampshire and Penn. Brown put up 194.600 point at the meet, its third-highest total of the season, to finish in fourth place.

Brown started the meet by scoring 48.675 on floor, followed by 48.600 on vault, 48.550 on bars, and 48.775 on beam - their second-highest beam score of the year.
Starting on floor, sophomore Maya Davis led Brown in seventh place at 9.850, followed by 9.825 from freshman Sophia Dewar to tie her career-high. Senior Ella Poley set a new career-high at 9.800, as did freshman Umi El Mammann at 9.650.
On vault, sophomore Julia Bedell tied for seventh and led the Bears at 9.800. El Mammann and Abby Contello were next at 9.725, followed by Poley at 9.700.
On bars, the Bears were led by Asta-Sollilja Farrell at 9.800 in seventh place. Lauren McKeown tied her career-high at 9.750, with Poley and Paige Richter each posting 9.700.
Rounding out the meet on beam, Brown's second-highest score of the season of 48.775 is surpassed only by their program record mark of 48.925 from exactly one month ago on February 5. Junior Angela Xing and senior Abby Contello tied for seventh overall at 9.825, with first-year Liza Marcus posting a 9.800 and Lauren Kramer turning in a 9.725.
Brown will compete against New Hampshire once again next weekend on the road, squaring off against the Wildcats in a dual meet on Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m. in the team's final tune-up before the GEC Championships.
