Gymnastics Caps Regular Season at New Hampshire Dual

DURHAM, N.H. – The Brown gymnastics team closed the regular season with a score of 193.750 on Sunday afternoon in a dual meet at the University of New Hampshire. The Wildcats posted 195.125 to win the meet.
For Brown, sophomore Julia Bedell took home first place on vault by tying the No. 4 score in program history, and junior Lauren McKeown set a new career-high on bars to tie for second overall with teammate Ella Poley. Senior Abby Contello posted a 9.775 on all three of her events, highlighted by a third place showing on vault. Junior Angela Xing tied her career-high for third place on beam and junior Lauren Kramer also posted a pair of 9.775 scores.
Brown started of the meet on bars with 48.175 points, led by McKeown (career-high) and Poley (season-high) tying for second place at 9.800. Contello tied for fourth at 9.775 and senior Jasmine Lee tied her career-high at 9.725.
Next on vault, the Bears combined for a score of 48.750 with Bedell taking home first place by tying her career-high at 9.850, marking the third time this season she's reached that score which is tied for No. 4 all-time in program history. Contello scored 9.775 to tie for third, Kramer posted a score of 9.725 and Poley scored 9.700.
On floor, Kramer led the Bears with a score of 9.775 to tie for fourth. Bedell and freshman Sophia Dewar tied for fifth at 9.750 and senior Carolanne Van Zandt posted a 9.700.
Xing led Brown by tying for third overall on beam, setting a new season-high and tying her career-best. Freshman Liza Marcus tied for fifth with her 9.800 score. Kramer tied her career-high at 9.775, while Contello also netted 9.775.
The Bears will now turn their attention towards the postseason which kicks off next Saturday with the second annual Gymnastics East Conference Championships in Williamsburg, Va. The meet will be split into two sessions with the teams competing for each session being announced this coming week.
