
Softball Begins Ivy League Play at Columbia

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball opens up Ivy League play this weekend with a three-game series at Columbia. The Bears and Lions will play a double header on Saturday (March 18) before playing a single game on Sunday (March 19).
The first game both days will begin at 12:30 p.m. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

SCOUTING BROWN
- The Bears had a rough last weekend of non-conference play as Brown lost games to Colgate and Loyola Marymount, while having four other games cancelled due to rain in Los Angeles.
- Brown fell to Colgate 7-1 and lost to LMU, 9-0 in five innings, managing just one hit against the Lions.
- Dara English continues to lead the Bears with a .296 batting average and is tied with Meghan Gormley for the team lead with eight hits.
- Jasmine Hsiao hit her first-career home run against Colgate and is second in the team with seven hits. Hasio leads the lineup with three doubles on the season.
- Pitching has been a bit of a struggle for the Bears early in the season with Brown's staff sitting at a 5.46 ERA.
- Alexis Guevara leads the team with a 3.17 ERA and has thrown a team-high 28.2 innings. Guevara has 30 strikeouts on the season to just nine walks and has a team-best .248 opposing hitting percentage.
SCOUTING COLUMBIA
- Columbia has started the season 3-10 with wins coming over Bradley, NC A&T and Sacramento State. The Lions also had four of their six games in Los Angeles cancelled due to weather last weekend.
- Bubba Gleaves leads the team with a .412 batting average and Megan Ryono is hitting .350 on the year. Gleaves has a team-high 10 RBI and Ryono is a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts.
- Columbia has struggled in the circle with a team ERA of 7.17 this season. The Lions have allowed teams to hit .363.
Jordan Hill has thrown by far the most innings on the staff (46) and holds a 5.02 ERA with 24 strikeouts to 17 walks.
LAST SEASON AGAINST COLUMBIA
- Brown went 1-2 against Columbia last season. The Bears won the first game 3-2 with Brown managing just one hit in the win.
- The Bears lost game two 6-4 and the finale 1-0. Brown was no-hit in the finale.
