SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Junior goaltender Kaley Doyle turned away 24 shots for her second shutout of the season as the Brown women's hockey team completed the road weekend sweep with a 2-0 win at Union Saturday afternoon.
Scoring for the Bears (8-16-1, 6-12-0 ECAC) was the freshmen duo of Maddie Morgan and India McDadi. With the victory, Brown has matched the 2011-12 team for the most wins in a season in the past 16 years, the team also moved up three spots to ninth in the ECAC standings. The Dutchwomen (11-18-1, 4-13-1 ECAC) have now lost four straight games.
After a scoreless first where Doyle had eight saves in the period, Brown wasted little time getting on the board in the second. With less than two minutes off the clock, sophomore Anna Hurd and junior Cassidy Piersiak sent passes to Morgan for her third goal of the year. Doyle finished the second with seven more saves to keep Union off the scoring sheet.
Brown solidified the win in the third when McDadi poked home a rebound off a shot from Hurd with 12:20 left in the game. Freshman Jade Iginla picked up an assist as well for her fifth of the year and team-leading 19th point. Doyle stopped nine more shots in the period to complete the shutout.
The Bears outshot Union 24-22 on goal.
Brown stays on the road for their next game at Cornell on Friday at 3 p.m.
