ITHACA, N.Y. – Brown women's hockey scored a pair of third-period goals Friday afternoon, but No. 14 Cornell held on to snap the road teams' winning streak, 4-2.
Freshman Jade Iginla and sophomore Cameron Sikich found the back of the net for the Bears (8-17-1, 6-13-0 ECAC). The Big Red (13-11-2, 10-8-1 ECAC) saw goals from senior Gillis Frechette twice, and freshmen Georgia Schiff and Caroline Chan.
Iginla is up to 15 goals and 20 points on the season, while Sikich now has three goals and six assists for nine points.
Cornell jumped ahead to a quick 3-0 lead with all three goals coming in the first 20 minutes.
After eight saves in the second period from junior Kaley Doyle, the Bears made their move in the third. Iginla took control of a loose puck and skated past two defenders for her third short-handed goal of the year with 10:56 to go.
After India McDadi won the battle for the puck on the boards, Sikich fired a long shot and beat the goaltender to make it a one-goal game with 6:19 on the clock. Cornell then tacked on its fourth goal on an empty net with five seconds remaining.
Brown concludes its road trip on Saturday at Colgate at 3 p.m.
