Men's Hockey Closes Regular Season at Home Against Cornell, Colgate

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (9-16-2, 5-13-2 ECAC) close out the 2022-23 regular season at Meehan Auditorium against the 13th-ranked Cornell Big Red (16-9-2, 13-6-1 ECAC) on Friday (Feb. 24) and the Colgate Raiders (14-14-4, 11-7-2 ECAC on Saturday (Feb. 25).
Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally. Brown Athletics will honor the program's 10-member senior class following Saturday's game against Colgate.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend sitting tenth in the ECAC Standings with two games remaining. The Bears can finish as high as eighth.
- Offensively, Brown averages 2.30 goals per game and are led by defenseman James Crossman's nine goals. Freshman Ryan Bottrill leads the team with 19 points and is tied for second on the squad with six goals.
- Brown's power play has 17 goals in 86 attempts (19.8%) to rank seventh in the conference and 31st in the NCAA. Brown's penalty kill clicks at 77.6% (90-116) to rank ninth in the conference.
- Between the pipes, Mathieu Caron holds a .924 save percentage and 2.33 goals against average. Jacob Zacharewicz has made the last six starts in goal and holds a .868 save percentage and 4.19 goals against average.
- Cornell enters the weekend ranked 13th in the nation per the USCHO.com poll. The Big Red sit third in the conference standings and have secured a first round bye and home ice in the ECAC Quarterfinals.
- Cornell holds a top-10 offense and defense. The Big Red average 3.48 goals per game to rank ninth in the nation while allowing 2.22 goals per game to rank fifth.
- Offensively, four players have eight goals for the team-lead. Another seven players have at least five goals this season. Gabriel Seger leads Cornell in assists (21) and points (27). Cornell's power play leads the ECAC and ranks second in the nation with 26 goals in 90 attempts (28.9%).
- Between the pipes, Ian Shane holds a 1.97 goals against average and .904 save percentage in 24 starts. Shane's goals against average ranks fifth in the NCAA.
- Cornell's penalty kill ranks in the middle of the ECAC and nation with 74 kills in 93 attempts (79.6%).
- Friday marks the 137th meeting between Brown and Cornell in a series dating back to 1959. Cornell holds the series edge, 84-44-8 with a 33-26-5 record at Meehan Auditorium.
- Brown captured a 2-1 win over the 11th-ranked Cornell Big Red in last year's meeting at Meehan (2/1/22).
- Jake Harris '22 and Justin Jallen '22 found the back of the net for the Bears with Tristan Crozier '22 and Nathan Plessis assisting on both goals.
- Mathieu Caron recorded 32 saves to pick up the win and the Bears blocked a season-high 24 shots, including six apiece from Luke Krys and Luke Albert.
- Colgate enters the weekend with a 14-14-4 overall record and 11-7-2 ECAC mark. The Raiders sit tied with the St. Lawrence Saints for fourth place with two games remaining.
- Offensively, Colgate averages 2.84 goals per game to rank fourth in the conference and 29th in the NCAA.
- Alex Young leads the team in goals (18) and points (34) with Nick Anderson holding the team-lead in assists (21). In total, six Raiders have 20 or more points and another four have 10 or more points.
- Colgate's power play clicks at 22% (29-for-132) to rank fourth in the conference and 21st in the nation.
- Defensively, Colgate allows 2.53 goals per game to rank fifth in the ECAC and 18th in the NCAA.
- Carter Gylander has made 31 starts between the pipes and holds a 2.36 goals against average and .916 save percentage. His save percentage ranks 24th in the country.
- Colgate's penalty kill ranks second in the conference and 11th in the nation with 17 goals allowed in 106 attempts (84%).
- Saturday marks the 99th meeting between Brown and Colgate in a series dating back to 1935. Colgate owns the series edge, 62-27-9, along with a 23-14-5 record at Meehan Auditorium.
- Crossman picked up ECAC Defender of the Week honors for the first time in his career following a three-goal weekend at Princeton and Quinnipiac.
- The Denver, Colorado native scored a power play goal against Princeton (Feb. 17) and added two goals, one on the power play, against Quinnipiac (Feb. 18).
- Crossman leads the team with nine goals this season and is one shy of cracking the program's top-10 for goals in a season by a defenseman.
