Men's Hockey Hosts Colgate, #10 Cornell in Conference Play

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (1-1-0, 0-1-0 ECAC) return to conference play to host the Colgate Raiders (2-3-1, 0-0-0 ECAC) on Friday before taking on the 10th-ranked Cornell Big Red (2-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) on Saturday night.
Both games are set to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown returns to the ice after splitting the opening weekend with a 3-2 overtime loss to Yale and a 7-2 non-conference win over Stonehill.
- Freshman Max Scott picked up ECAC Rookie of the Week honors following a five-point weekend. The San Jose, California native scored his first collegiate goal on Friday before contributing four assists in the win over Stonehill.
- Sophomore Ryan St. Louis recorded a hat trick in the win over Stonehill to lead the team with three goals.
- Assistant captain Matt Sutton recorded two points in both games to begin the season last weekend. He ranks second on the team with four points.
- Between the pipes, freshman Lawton Zacher picked up his first collegiate win against Stonehill on Sunday. Through two starts, he holds a 2.43 goals against average and .922 save percentage.
- Brown's power play enters the weekend clicking at 22.2% (2-9) to rank third in the conference and 15th nationally. The penalty kill is 5-for-6 (83.3%) this season to rank fifth in the conference.
- Colgate enters the weekend with a 2-3-1 overall record under first-year head coach Mike Harder.
- The Raiders opened the season with a tie and loss to UConn and a sweep of Sacred Heart before being swept by UMass Lowell.
- Pierson Brandon leads the team with three goals this season. Three Raiders - Sebastian Tamburro, Ryan McGuire, and Ross Mitton - lead the team with five points apiece.
- Colgate's offense averages 3.00 goals per game to rank 24th in the nation. The Colgate power play clicks at 23.8% (5-21) to rank 12th nationally.
- Between the pipes, Carter Gylander returns for Colgate and holds a 2.58 goals against average and .911 save percentage in five starts. His record is 2-2-1.
- Colgate's penalty kill ranks tenth in the conference at 76.1% (16-21).
- Friday marks the 100th meeting between Brown and Colgate in a series dating back to 1935.
- Colgate owns the series edge, 62-27-10, along with a 23-14-6 record at Meehan Auditorium.
- Colgate is the tenth opponent Brown has faced 100 or more times in program history.
- The Raiders join the five Ivy League schools - Cornell (137), Dartmouth (167), Harvard (182), Princeton (180), and Yale (193) - along with Clarkson (103), Providence (106), Rensselaer (109), and St. Lawrence (100).
- It's the third straight season Brown has met an opponent for the 100th time. In 2021-22 Brown and Clarkson played their 100th game and in 2022-23 Brown and St. Lawrence squared off for the 100th time.
- Cornell enters the weekend with a 2-0-0 overall record after taking a weekend sweep over 11th-ranked Minnesota Duluth at Lynah Rink last weekend.
- Cornell is ranked 10th in the nation per both the USCHO.com and the USA Today polls.
- The Big Red took a 4-1 win on opening night before a 3-0 shutout win on Saturday (Oct. 28).
- Gabriel Seger and Kyle Penney both scored twice in the opening weekend. Ben Robertson added three assists.
- Cornell's power play went 3-for-8 (37.5%) in the opening weekend.
- Ian Shane played both games in goal for Cornell and surrendered just the one goal to the Bulldogs. He enters the weekend with a 0.50 goals against average and .972 save percentage.
- Saturday marks the 138th meeting between Brown and Cornell in a series dating back to 1959.
- Cornell holds the series edge, 85-44-8 with a 34-26-5 record at Meehan Auditorium.
