Men's Water Polo Hosts Princeton, LIU and Iona This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's water polo returns home for three conference games this weekend. The Bears will take on Princeton on Saturday before hosting Long Island and Iona on Sunday.
The Princeton game will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday's first game will start at 10 a.m. with the second game beginning at 3 p.m. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
SCOUTING BROWN
Princeton is 21-4 on the season and a perfect 5-0 in league play. The Tigers are ranked sixth in both national polls.
Roko Pozaric is the leader on the team with 55 goals, followed by Vladan Mitrovic (41) and George Caras (40).
In the first meeting this season, Princeton picked up a 15-9 win. Gabe Chang and Jaxson Tierney each had two goals to lead Brown.
SCOUTING LIU
LIU is 5-16 on the season and 1-4 in conference play. The Sharks have lost two-straight games and their only win in league play was against MIT.
Riyad Shehadeh leads the team with 52 goals on the season, followed by Karl Lovett (42) and Josep Jodra Munoz (40).
Brown beat LIU 15-11 with Ilias Stothart leading the way for Brown with four goals. Eight Bears scored in the game against the Sharks.
SCOUTING IONA
Iona is 9-11 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. The Gaels come into the weekend having lost the Wagner in their last game.
Andrew Miller is the top scorer for Iona with 70 goals. Luksa Vlasic is second with 56.
Brown beat Iona 15-11 in the first meeting with Stothart tallying a team-high five goals. Narancic and Tierney each had three goals for the Bears.

SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown begins the second half of conference play with a 15-4 overall record and are currently riding an eight-game winning streak. The Bears will play host to Princeton, LIU and Iona over the weekend.
- Brown swept three games at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament last weekend as the Bears beat Air Force and Fullerton on Saturday and finished the weekend with an overtime win over host Santa Clara.
- Ilias Stothart continues to be a force for the Bears. After setting the program record with 10 goals against Occidental two weekends ago, Stothart had 12 total goals last weekend, including six against Air Force and four against Fullerton. Combined with an eight-goal performance against Salem, Stothart has scored a total of 39 goals in his last eight games. Stothart has had at least two goals in every game during the run.
- Stothart was named NWPC Player of the Week for the second-straight week and was also named to the Cutino Award Watch List.
- Jaxson Tierney had another strong weekend finishing with 10 goals in the three games. Tierney had two goals in each of the first two games before collecting a season-best six goals in the overtime win against Santa Clara.
- Gabe Chang tallied five goals against Santa Clara and has found the net in all but one game this season.
- Stothart continue to lead the Bears with 70 goals on the year, followed by Tierney at 45 and Chang at 44. The next three goal scorers for Brown are all first years with Mate Tymcyna scoring 26 goals, followed by Goran Narancic (19) and Mac Berry (16).
- Brown had a strong weekend in goal at Santa Clara as Joe Gallagher collected double-digit saves in two games. Gallagher had 13 saves against Air Force before upping his performance to 14 saves against Santa Clara. Kole Newman had a 12 save performance against Fullerton. Newman remains tops on the team with 73 saves this year and Gallagher is second at 68.
