Men's Hockey Opens 2023-24 Season at Home Against Yale, Stonehill

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (0-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) open the 2023-24 season Friday night at Meehan Auditorium against conference foe Yale (0-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) before taking on Division I newcomer Stonehill (0-5-0, Independent) on Sunday.
Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. with Sunday's puck drop scheduled for 2 p.m. Both games will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

- Friday's game is a Faculty & Staff game. All Brown faculty and staff are eligible to redeem four complimentary tickets to the game.
- Sunday's game is Pink the Rink and Youth Day. Wear pink and join the Bears for a postgame skate.
- At all games this season, fans can participate in the Cabot Cheese Sharp Shooter of the game and an intermission Chuck-a-Puck. Both of these are free for fans all season long.
- Additionally, Brown Athletics expanded its partnership with Narragansett Brewery to provide fans the opportunity to purchase Narragansett Brewery products at concession stands.

- Brown enters the 2023-24 season with 29 players on the roster, split between 17 forwards, eight defensemen, and four goaltenders. The roster is further split with three seniors, nine juniors, nine sophomores, and eight freshmen.
- Geographically, there are 22 Americans, six Canadians, and one Chinese player on the roster.
- Brown's top two forward scorers from a season ago return in 2023-24 in Ryan Bottrill and Jordan Tonelli. Bottrill finished his freshman campaign with six goals and 15 assists for 21 points with Tonelli compiling seven goals and 17 points.
- On the blue line, returners Tony Andreozzi, Brett Bliss, and Jackson Munro headline the returners.
- Between the pipes, sophomore Jacob Zacharewicz is the lone returning goaltender. He is joined by newcomers Stephen Chen, Tyler Shea, and Lawton Zacher.
- Yale opens the 2023-24 season looking to improve from a 10th-place finish a year ago.
- The Bulldogs finished the 2022-23 season with three wins in the final six games, including a 4-1 win over Rensselaer in the first round of the ECAC playoffs.
- Yale's offense returns five of its six leading scorers from 2022-23, including Ian Carpentier, who tallied nine goals and 17 points.
- Both goalies with significant minutes last season, Luke Pearson and Nathan Reid, return for Yale in 2023-24.
- Friday marks the 193rd meeting between Brown and Yale dating back to 1898.
- Brown holds a 78-106-8 all-time record against the Bulldogs with a 41-41-3 home mark. At Meehan, Brown is 33-29-3.
- Stonehill enters the weekend with a 0-5 overall record in its first Division I season.
- The SkyHawks dropped games to Northeastern, #13 Providence, and LIU before being swept on the road at Bentley last weekend.
- Stonehill's offense averages a goal per game with Frank Ireland leading the team with two goals. Kyle Heath leads the team with two assists.
- Dylan Meilun holds a 4.76 goals against average and .903 save percentage in four starts between the pipes.
- Gavin FitzPatrick holds a 7.01 goals against average and .816 save percentage in one start.
- On special teams, Stonehill is 0-for-18 on the power play. The penalty kill clicks at 71.4% (20-for-28).
- Sunday marks the first meeting between the Bears and Skyhawks.
