Men's Water Polo Bests Santa Clara for Eighth-Straight Win

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Brown men's water polo collected its eighth-straight victory with an 18-15 overtime win over Santa Clara to end its weekend at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament.
Jaxson Tierney led Brown with a season-best six goals, while Gabe Chang finished with five. Ilias Stothart had two goals for the Bears and Trey Rogers, Daniel Hadar, Roberto Serrano, Nick Berry and Mac Berry all found the back of the net once.
Brown trailed 4-2 but goals from Tierney and Chang tied the quarter at four. Santa Clara added a late goal to take a 5-4 lead. Brown trailed by one at halftime after each team scored three goals in the second quarter.
Tierney tied the game as the third quarter came to an end with the teams tied at 11.
The teams traded goals in the fourth with Santa Clara taking the lead with 3:14 left to play. A penalty shot by Chang tied the game and sent the game to overtime.
Brown scored the first three goals of overtime with tallies coming from Chang, Serrano and Hadar. After a Santa Clara goal, the Bears picked up their final goal from Tierney.
UP NEXT
Brown will be back home for a weekend of conference play, playing Princeton, LIU and Iona.
