Matchup History
OPENING KICKOFF
- Brown and Cornell will face off in Ithaca on Saturday afternoon for the 70th time in program history.
- Brown is coming off a thrilling overtime victory over Princeton last Saturday to move to 3-2 on the season for the first time since 2015.
- After two wins to start the year, including a key last-second win at Yale, Cornell has dropped its last thee games in a row.
- Cornell has won two of the last three matchups in the series, all of which have been decided by four points or less. Brown won 49-45 two years ago in Ithaca.
- Brown holds the top passing offense in the nation (352.6) while Cornell holds the Ivy's top passing defense (172.4).
- Brown averages the second-most points in the Ivy at 32.0, while Cornell is allowing the second-most point per game at 27.6.

WEEKLY HONORS
• Senior WR Mark Mahoney (Offensive) and junior LB Caleb Moorhead (Special Teams) both earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors for their performances in Brown's overtime win over Princeton.
• Mahoney set new career-highs with nine catches for 153 yards, including the 51-yard game-tying score in the final minute of regulation. His previous career-highs had been six catches for 76 yards the previous week against URI.
• Mahoney was also named to the Honor Roll for the FedEx Ground FCS National Awards.
• Moorhead blocked Princeton's PAT attempt after they scored a touchdown their first possession in overtime, which helped Brown win the game following a touchdown and PAT on their ensuing possession.
JUMPING IN FRONT
• Brown has enjoyed playing with the lead for much of this season, particularly early in games. The Bears remain the only team in the Ivy League to have scored first in all five games this season.
• Brown has scored three times on its opening possession this season (2 TD, 1 FG).
TAKING CARE OF THE BALL
• Brown was the last team in the country to have not committed a turnover this season, going three straight without a turnover before committing five over the last two games.
• Prior to this season, the last time Brown had gone three straight games without committing a turnover was in 2011.
• Brown only had one game all of 2022 (vs. Penn) without committing a turnover.
• 2023 marks the first season since 2018 where the Bears had more than one game without a turnover.
PENCHANT FOR BIG PLAYS
• Brown's defense and special teams have allowed 10 touchdowns this season of 38 yards of greater, including five of 50+ yards.
• Opponents have scored a touchdown of 43 yards or greater in four straight games and 50+ in three straight.
THIRD DOWN SUCCESS
• Brown ranks fourth in the nation on third down conversions at 52.4 percent, trailing only South Dakota State (.643), North Dakota State (.548) and Howard (.541).
FOURTH DOWN DEFENSE
• Brown is the only team in the FCS that has not allowed a fourth down conversion yet this season, stopping all three of their opponents' attempts.
FIGHTING TIL THE END
• Brown has trailed in the fourth quarter in two of their three wins this year, twice either tying the game or taking the lead in the final minute (Bryant and Princeton).
PUTTING THE OPPONENT'S OFFENSE IN PARK
• Junior DB Tim Malo set a career-high with three pass breakups last week against Princeton, tying Isaiah Reed (vs. Bryant) for the most by a single player in a game this season. Malo now ranks second on the team with five breakups this season.
• Brown is the only team in the Ivy League with three players ranked in the top eight in passes defended per game this season: Treyvon Hobbs (t-3rd 1.20), Aubrey Parker (t-3rd/1.20), and Malo (8th/1.00).
FIRST IN FIRST DOWNS
• Brown leads the Ivy League this season (26th in FCS) with 138 first downs (27.6 per game), 33 more than Penn, the largest gap between any team.
• Defensively, Brown has allowed 98 first downs on defense, tied for the third fewest in the league with Cornell.
• Brown led the Ivy League with 215 (21.5 per game) first downs in 2022. Harvard (197) was second, the biggest gap between any team.
