Bears set for doubleheader against Rhode Island on Wednesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball will play host to the University of Rhode Island for a doubleheader on Wednesday (April 27). First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m.
A limited number of t-shirts will be distributed to fans. For those who cannot make it to the games, both games will be streamed on ESPN+.

ABOUT BROWN
Brown gets another opportunity to play on its home field as the doubleheader against the Rams was moved to the Brown Softball Field due to inclement weather in the forecast.
The Bears sit at 13-23 on the season after dropping two of three games to Harvard over the weekend. Brown is 4-1 at home in non-conference play and have won four-straight after falling to Providence in the home opener this season.
Senior Elayna Tsiouplis leads the Bears lineup with a .293 batting average and 27 hits. Tsiouplis is tied for the team lead with Brianna Rodriguez with two doubles.
Grad student Katie O'Leary is second on the team with a .286 average and leads the team with 19 runs batted in.
Senior Madeline Charles hit her first home run of the season on Senior Day, taking the first pitch she saw in the second inning over the left field wall.
Junior Erin Elgas lowered her ERA to a team-best 2.40 after throwing a complete game shutout in Brown's win over Harvard. Elgas was the first playing this season in Ivy League play to shutout the Crimson.
The top four pitchers on the staff for Brown have ERAs under 3.00 and the team ERA sits at 2.86.
ABOUT RHODE ISLAND
Rhode Island is 10-29 on the season and the Rams have lost four-straight games coming into the doubleheader.
Rachel Zingerman leads the lineup with a .314 average and Ari Castillo is tops on the team with six home runs rand 26 RBI.
In the circle, Liz Lynchard has thrown the most innings by far for the Rams and holds a 5.07 ERA and 7-18 record in 22 starts.
