Softball Hosts Holy Cross for Tuesday Showdown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball will host Holy Cross for a doubleheader on Tuesday (April 21) with first pitch scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE BEARS
- Brown is sitting at 13-21 on the season after earning two wins last weekend against Dartmouth. The Bears were denied the chance for the sweep as Sunday's game was postponed due to weather.
- Jasmine Hsiao had a strong weekend for the Bears, going 3-for-7 at the plate with six RBI. The senior hit two home runs, including a grand slam in the second game against the Dartmouth. Hsiao has seven home runs on the season, matching her first season as a Bear for career-best.
- After a strong week hitting just shy of .500 in the four games, Cameron Zytkewicz Ray has bumped her batting average to a team-high .316. Zytkewicz Ray has 36 hits on the season, one shy of her career-high she set last season (37). The senior has already matched her career-best with eight doubles.
- Edie Cobb threw a complete-game shutout in game two against the Big Green. The sophomore threw six innings, scattering four hits and three walks, while striking out five batters. After struggling with walks earlier in the season, Cobb has allowed three walks or less in three of her last four appearances.
- Macy Borowski tied her career-high in wins (9) with a victory over Dartmouth on Saturday. The junior leads Brown with a 3.47 ERA and has 113 strikeouts in 119.0 innings. Behind Borowski, the Bears lead the Ivy League in strikeouts per seven innings. Borowski is tops in the Ivy League in strikeouts and strikeouts per seven innings (6.6).
- Holy Cross is 8-26 on the year dropping its last game 6-4 to Lafayette on Sunday. Holy Cross beat Lafayette on Saturday, the only win for the Crusaders in their last eight contests.
- The Crusaders are hitting just .233 as a team with Silje Emery leads in the team a .282. Emma Pietrzak has a team-best five home runs and 18 RBI.
- In the circle, Holy Cross holds a team-ERA of 5.65. Bridget Mulkeen has the best ERA on the team at 4.51. Sophia Roncone has thrown a team-high 98.1 innings and has struck out 81 batters.
- Brown is 26-16 all-time against Holy Cross and the Bears have won four of the last five and six of the last eight meetings in the series. Brown swept a road doubleheader last season. The last series in Providence was split in 2024.
