#14 Men's Lacrosse Stays Red Hot with 13-8 Road Win Over #8 Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – Connor Theriault, the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week, recorded a career-high 24 saves as the 14th-ranked Brown Bears (8-4, 3-2 Ivy League) took its third straight win over a top-10 opponent with a 13-8 road win at eighth-ranked Cornell (10-3, 3-2 Ivy League) Saturday at Schoellkopf Field.
Brian Antonelli and Devon McLane led the Bears offensively as both finished the afternoon with four goals and five points.
"Great team win," said head coach Mike Daly. "I thought the assistant coaches did a great job today to prepare our team for a solid road win. I'm proud of our players and seniors for keeping the team focused and the energy level high all week."
The Bears controlled the first quarter and tallied six unanswered goals to take a 6-0 lead into the second quarter. Jack Kelly began the scoring with his third goal of the season 4:14 into the game. Minutes later, Brian Antonelli, Devon McLane, and Nolen Rockefeller all scored in a 53-second span to make it 4-0 with 8:02 remaining.
Antonelli buried his second of the game and 24th goal of the season with 4:08 remaining to make it 5-0 and with 1.2 seconds remaining in the opening quarter, Griffin King buried a feed from Trevor Glavin to cap the scoring run.
The Big Red responded in the second quarter as John Piatelli struck twice with Ryan Sheehan and Michael Long chipping in goals to make it a 6-4 game. Chayse Ierlan (15 saves) settled into the game and recorded six saves in the second quarter to bring his first-half total to eight.
Connor Theriault recorded five saves in the first and second quarters for 10 stops in the first half.
After the sluggish second quarter, Brown responded to begin the second half with a pair of goals from McLane and another from Reed Moshyedi to push the lead to 9-4. After Piatelli stopped the Bruno run, Antonelli scored the final goal of the third quarter for his fourth hat trick of the season and added his fourth goal 37 seconds into the fourth quarter to make it 11-5.
McLane joined the four-goal club minutes later following CJ Kirst's first goal of the game to make it 12-6.
Colin Hart scored his third goal in two games with 9:02 remaining to add to Brown's lead and make it 13-8.
GAME NOTES
Brown returns to Stevenson-Pincince for the non-conference finale and Ocean State Cup battle against the Bryant Bulldogs on Tuesday (Apr. 26) before closing the regular season against the Dartmouth Big Green on Saturday (Apr. 30).
Tuesday's game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. while Saturday's game will begin at 1 p.m. Both games will stream on ESPN+.

- Antonelli pushed his goal streak to 12 games in Ithaca. He has scored at least one goal in every game this season and has multiple goals in six games.
- Trevor Glavin made his second straight start at attack against the Big Red and finished with four assists for his second consecutive four-point performance.
- Theriault recorded 24 saves in the win for his first 20-save performance of his career. Theriault recorded double-digit saves for the 11th time in 12 games this season and 15 or more saves for the third time this season.
- King and Moshyedi both added a goal and assist in the win to push their point streaks to five games.
- Matthew Gunty finished 10-for-24 at the faceoff X with five ground balls. Cornell's Angelo Petrakis went 13-for-23 with six ground balls.
- Cornell finished the afternoon with a 56-36 edge in shots on goal but only a 32-28 edge in shots on goal. The Big Red also finished with 36 ground balls compared to 26 for the Bears.
- Brown was 26-for-31 (.839) on clears while Cornell was 20-for-21 (.952). Both teams went 0-for-2 in EMO situations.
- Brown held Cornell without a goal in the opening quarter, marking the first time this season the Bears have held a team off the board for a quarter.
