
#5/10 Men's Lacrosse Hosts Bryant Tuesday Night for Ocean State Cup Battle

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The #5/10 Brown Bears (8-4, 3-2 Ivy League) host the Bryant Bulldogs (7-5, 5-1 NEC) in the final non-conference game of the 2022 season Tuesday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Tuesday's game is also a battle for the Ocean State Cup as both Brown and Bryant took wins over Providence earlier this season. Tuesday's game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters Tuesday with an 8-4 overall record and 3-2 Ivy League conference mark. The Bears have won three straight games over top-10 opponents and look to finish the non-conference slate with a 6-2 record with a win tomorrow.
- Offensively, Brown ranks third in the conference and 23rd in the NCAA with 13.42 goals scored per game.
- Devon McLane leads the Bears in goals (39), assists (20), points (59), shots (102), shots on goal (69), and man-up goals (9). He ranks third in the Ivy League and 14th in the NCAA with 4.92 points per game. He ranks fourth in the conference and tied for 13th in the NCAA with 3.25 goals per game.
- Eight Bears have recorded 10 or more points in 2022 and four Bears have reached the 20-goal milestone.
- Connor Theriault holds a .549 save percentage and 11.48 goals against average in 11 starts this season. He picked up conference Player and Rookie of the Week accolades following a career-day in Ithaca, stopping 24-of-32 shots faced.
- Brown's man-down defense leads the conference and ranks seventh in the NCAA with 10 goals allowed in 39 attempts (.744).
- Matthew Gunty holds a .522 win-rate at the faceoff X this season. He leads the Bears with 77 ground balls and ranks third in the Ivy League and 17th in the NCAA with 7.00 ground balls per game.
- Bryant enters Tuesday with a 7-5 overall record and 5-1 NEC conference mark. The Bulldogs have won two straight and five of its last six games dating back to mid-March. The lone loss in the stretch came at St. Joseph's, a 10-9 defeat.
- Marc O'Rourke leads Bryant offensively with 39 goals and 56 points. Logan McGovern leads the team with 26 assists.
- As a team, Bryant averages 12.67 goals per game to rank 32nd in the NCAA.
- Bryant's man-up offense has combined for 13 goals in 42 attempts to rank 53rd in the nation.
- Defensively, Bryant ranks 14th in the NCAA with 10.17 goals against per game.
- Luke Caracciolo has started all 12 games between the pipes and holds a .544 save percentage and 10.30 goals against average with the latter ranking 14th in the NCAA.
- Jacob Alexander has taken the bulk of the faceoffs for Bryant. He holds a .566 win-rate (116-205) to rank 19th in the NCAA. Alexander leads the Bulldogs with 76 ground balls and ranks 20th in the NCAA with 6.91 ground balls per game.
- Tuesday night marks the 12th meeting between Brown and Bryant in a series dating back to 2009.
- The Bears are 7-4 all-time against the Bulldogs and look to make it two straight wins in the series on Saturday.
- The Bears will also look to capture the Ocean State Cup for the seventh time since 2010 with a victory over Bryant.
- In the last meeting between Brown and Bryant in 2019, the Bears captured a 17-7 road win for the Ocean State Cup win.
- Jack Kniffin '20 and George Grell both tallied four goals and six points to leads the Bears offensively. Eleven Bears in total recorded at least a point.
- After taking a 13-8 road win at Cornell, Brown moved from 14th to 10th in the USILA Coaches Poll and the USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll.
- Brown moved from 14th to fifth per the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
- The Bears are up to 8th in the NCAA RPI rankings and are one of six Ivy League teams in the top-11.
- The Bears stayed red-hot with a 13-8 road win at eighth-ranked Cornell for its third straight victory over a top-10 opponent.
- The Bears jumped to a 6-0 lead through 15 minutes and did not look back as Connor Theriault recorded a career-high 24 saves to keep the Big Red at bay.
- Brian Antonelli and Devon McLane both scored four goals and added an assist. Trevor Glavin recorded a career-high four assists in the win.
- Four Bears have 20 or more goals this season: Devon McLane (39), Brian Antonelli (26), Ryan Aughavin (21), and Darian Cook (21).
- Theriault swept the Ivy League Weekly Awards, taking home both Player and Rookie of the Week accolades following his 24-save effort against Cornell.
- Theriault's save percentage jumped to .549 following the game and he now ranks third in the Ivy League and 15th in the NCAA.
- Among underclassmen, Theriault's save percentage ranks second in the NCAA, trailing only Michigan sophomore Shane Carr (.550).
- Brown enters Tuesday having won three straight games over top-10 opponents: beating #8 Penn (Apr. 9), #4 Yale (Apr. 16) and #8 Cornell (Apr. 23).
- It marks the first season since 2015 where the Bears have won three games against top-10 opponents.
- Brown is one of five Ivy League teams tied atop the conference standings with a 3-2 record.
- Following Saturday's games, one of the five teams currently tied atop the standings will be on the outside looking in.
- Brown secures a berth in the Ivy League Tournament with a win over Dartmouth on Saturday (Apr. 30).
