
Harvard Pulls Away from Brown to Take Two on Saturday

Freshman Gunner Boree had one hit in each game and now has a four-game hitting streak. Sophomore Reece Rappoli tagged a pair of hits including an RBI double in game one, and sophomore Charles Crawford drew five walks between the two games and scored one run.

Sophomore Gauge Lockhart was solid in relief for Brow in game one, allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits over 5.0 innings of relief.

Junior Tobey McDonough had a strong start in game two, going 6.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits with no walks and striking out five.

GAME ONE
- Harvard came out of the gates swinging, sending 15 batters to the plate, scoring 11 runs on 11 hits, including four doubles and two triples in the bottom of the first. Eight of the runs scored after two outs.
- The Crimson later added one run in both the second and third innings.
- Brown got one back in the second on an RBI single to the opposite field by Jackson Hipp. In the third inning, Brown loaded the bases and scored a run on a dropped third strike/passed ball.
- Lockhart came on in relief in the first inning and settled things down for Brown on the mound, allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits.
- Trailing 13-2 to begin the top of the sixth, Brown batted around and rallied for five runs in the inning. Boree laced a double to left field to plate Burley, then Ryan Marra drew a walk to load the bases. Next up, Derian Morphew launched a sac fly to deep right center to score Hipp and make it 13-4.
- Two batters later, Rappoli grounded one just inside the bag at third and down the left field line for an RBI double. Brown then capitalized on a throwing error, scoring two more runs to cut the deficit to 13-7.
- Harvard finished off the game with four runs in the eighth inning on four hits.
GAME TWO
- McDonough started the game strong, allowing just one run on three hits through the first five innings.
- After going down in order in the first inning, Harvard went up 1-0 in the second inning with an unearned run after a throwing error.
- After twice stranding runners on third base over the first four innings, Brown broke through in the sixth inning with two outs when Jacob Burley came home on a wild pitch to tie the score 1-1.
- Harvard came right back with two in the bottom of the sixth thanks to two infield hits and a double to retake the lead at 3-1.
- Harvard manufactured an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh inning and added three more in the eighth to extend their lead and take control at 7-1, tallying three hits in each inning.Β Β
