Baseball Heads to Harvard for Three-Game Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team will reenter Ivy League play this weekend with a three-game series at Harvard. Saturday will feature a doubleheader starting at 11:30 a.m., followed by a single game on Sunday at noon.

SCOUTING BROWN (4-12, 1-2 Ivy)
- Brown started Ivy play last weekend with a 1-2 showing at Dartmouth, where each team used a late-inning rally to split a doubleheader on Saturday.
- Brown is coming off a 14-10 loss to Bryant at home on Wednesday, where they collected 12 hits but also issued nine walks. The Bears got six hits and six RBIs from the bottom third of their order.
- Brown is batting .235 on the season, led by sophomore second baseman Reece Rappoli (.347) and freshman outfielder Nathan Brasher (.303).
- Rappoli has hit safely in eight of the last nine games, and Brasher has a hit in four straight.
- Junior first baseman Ryan Marra has a six-game hitting streak, and has moved from the middle of the order to the leadoff spot in the lineup the last four games.
- Junior Ray Sass has reached base safely in four of his last five games and ranks second on the Bears in on-base percentage.
- Junior Derian Morphew has reached base in six straight games.
- Freshman Gunner Boree went 4-for-4 with three RBIs on Wednesday against Bryant.
SCOUTING HARVARD (11-8, 3-0 Ivy)
- Saturday will serve as the home opener for the Crimson this season after playing their first 19 games on the road.
- Harvard swept a three-game series last weekend at Cornell to open Ivy play.
- Brown and Harvard have one common opponent so far this season in Holy Cross, who beat the Crimson 11-5 in Worcester on Tuesday.
- Sophomore Chris Snopek leads Harvard in several offensive categories, including average (.380), on-base percentage (.470), hits (27), and RBIs (12), ranking fifth in the Ivy League in both batting average and OBP.
- Logan Bravo ranks third in the Ivy with seven doubles and enters Saturday with an eight-game hitting streak.
- Sophomore Ben Rounds has reached base safely in 10 straight games and is hitting .292 on the season.
- Freshman George Cooper leads the squad with three homers and 14 runs.
