Men's Hockey Hosts #20 Clarkson Friday; St. Lawrence Saturday in Conference Play

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (5-14-0, 5-8-0 ECAC) look to continue climbing the ECAC standings with a pair of conference games at Meehan Auditorium this weekend. Brown hosts 20th-ranked Clarkson (13-7-6, 8-2-4 ECAC) and welcomes St. Lawrence to Meehan on Saturday (Feb. 5).
Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend series with a 5-14-0 overall record and 5-8-0 ECAC mark. The Bears are tied for seventh in the ECAC standings with 16 league points in 13 games alongside St. Lawrence's 16 league points in 14 games.
- Senior forward Justin Jallen leads the team in goals (6), points (12), and shots (45). He is tied for the team lead in assists (6) alongside classmate Tristan Crozier and juniors Luke Krys and Samuli Niinisaari.
- Brown's penalty kill ranks 21st in the NCAA at 84.0%. The Bears have killed 68-of-81 penalties this season and rank seventh in a crowded ECAC leaderboard.
- Between the pipes, freshman Mathieu Caron leads Brown goaltenders with a 2.98 goals against average and .909 save percentage. Caron's save percentage ranks sixth in the NCAA among freshman and eighth in the ECAC.
- Clarkson enters the weekend with a 13-7-6 overall record and 8-2-4 ECAC mark. The Golden Knights are second in the ECAC standings with 32 points and rank 20th in the NCAA per the DCU/USCHO.com Poll.
- The Golden Knights possess the third ranked scoring offense in the conference and 17th-ranked in the nation with 3.19 goals per game.
- Alex Campbell leads the team with 11 goals in 26 games with Zach Tsekos and Anthony Romano second on the team with 10 goals apiece. Mathieu Gosselin leads the team in assists (16), points (23), and plus/minus (+12).
- In total, eleven Golden Knights have 10 or more points in the season.
- Clarkson's defense matches its offense and ranks third in the conference and 15th in the nation with 2.35 goals allowed per game.
- Between the pipes, Ethan Haider has started 23-of-26 games and holds a 2.36 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. Jacob Mucitelli has made three starts this season and holds a 1.42 goals against average and a .943 save percentage.
- Clarkson's power play clicks at 18.6% to rank third in the ECAC and 33rd in the NCAA. The Golden Knights have 18 power play goals in 97 attempts. Clarkson has allowed two short handed goals.
- On the other side of the ice, Clarkson's penalty kill comes in at 86.2% to rank third in the ECAC and 13th in the nation. The Golden Knights have killed 81-of-94 penalties this season.
- Friday night marks the 99th meeting between Brown and Clarkson in a series dating back to 1952. Clarkson has owned the series with a 70-19-9 overall record against Brown.
- Brown looks to snap a four-game skid to Clarkson on Friday.
- St. Lawrence enters the weekend with a 6-14-3 overall record and 4-7-3 ECAC mark. The Saints sit tied with the Bears in the ECAC standings in seventh place with 16 league points, although Brown has played one less game.
- St. Lawrence's offense ranks just ahead of Brown with 1.88 goals per game.
- Senior Kaden Pickering leads the team in goals (6), assists (8), and points (14). Classmate David Jankowski is second on the team with 10 points and tied for the team-lead in assists with Pickering.
- Defensively, the Saints rank ninth in the ECAC and 46th in the nation with 3.38 goals allowed per game.
- Goaltender Emil Zetterquist has made 21 starts and holds a 2.97 goals against and .895 save percentage. Francis Boisvert, in one start, holds a 3.10 goals against and .914 save percentage.
- St. Lawrence's power play is 11th in the ECAC and 58th in the NCAA, clicking at just 8.0%. The Saints have seven power play goals in 87 attempts and have allowed two short handed goals.
- The penalty kill comes in at 82.7% (81-for-98) to rank eighth in the conference and 26th in the nation alongside Colgate.
- Saturday night marks the 94th meeting between Brown and St. Lawrence in a series dating back to 1952. St. Lawrence holds a 48-32-13 record in the series.
- Brown looks for its fourth straight and fifth win in the last seven meetings over the Saints on Saturday.
- Brown averages 15.8 blocked shots per game through 19 games in 2021-22.
- Luke Krys leads the NCAA in blocks per game (3.63), is second in the country in total blocks (69), and is one of four in the NCAA with over 60 blocks in the 2021-22 season.
- The Bears recorded a season-high 24 blocked shots in the win over Cornell (Feb. 1), headlined by six blocks from Krys and Luke Albert.
- Junior defenseman Samuli Niinisaari is second on the team with 29 blocks in 17 games.
- Senior Tristan Crozier and junior Nathan Plessis factored in both Brown goals in the win over Cornell (Feb. 1), finishing with two assists apiece.
- For Crozier, it marked his second career two-assist and two-point effort and first since recording two assists against Cornell on February 15, 2019, a 3-3 tie at Meehan Auditorium.
- For Plessis, the two-assist output marks his first career multi-point game.
