Women’s Lacrosse Lead Early vs. No. 1 Boston College, Fall to Reigning National Champions

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown (1-2) took a 2-1 lead midway through the opening quarter, but the reigning national champion and No. 1 team Boston College (5-0) defeated the Bears 15-9 on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Boston College struck first minutes into the contest with an unassisted goal, but the Bears stormed back with back-to-back goals in a four-minute span. Claire Jeschke assisted Jackie Mason and Mia Mascone (6:17) followed to put the Bears ahead 2-1.
BC scored seven unanswered and went into the break with an 8-3 lead as Mascone added her second goal of the half with 3:07 remaining in the second quarter.
Brown fired quickly to begin the second half with Maggie Fowler assisting on the back-to-back goals to cut the BC lead to three. Alaina Parisella and Jeschke scored the goals. Boston College answered back with one of its own before Fowler posted her third point of the game, this time on an unassisted goal.
Brown closed the game with the final three goals as Leah Caputo, Emmie Lau and Jackie Mason (from Caputo) scored.
Erin Tucker registered 13 saves and three Browns recorded two ground balls apiece.
