Women’s Lacrosse Cruises to 16-5 Win Over Vermont

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's lacrosse team (5-5, 1-2 Ivy) closed non-conference play with a 16-5 win over Vermont (6-6, 2-1 Ivy) on Wednesday evening at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Ruby Sliwkowski and Tessie Batchelder each recorded hat tricks while Sliwkowski also dished out two assists. Mackenzie Farley scored two goals to go along with a game-high eight draw controls. Riley Peterson and Caroline Nozzolillo each tallied two goals in the win.
Along with two goals, Peterson had a game-high five ground balls. As a team, Brown outshot Vermont 37-15 while winning 19 out of 23 draw controls.
Brown jumped out to an 8-0 first quarter lead behind goals from eight different goal scorers. After Vermont opened the second quarter with a goal, Brown responded with a 4-1 spurt to close the half behind goals from Peterson, Batchelder, Kayla Davi, and Sliwkowski.
The Bears took a 12-2 lead into the second half, they outshot the Catamounts 26-6 in the first half while winning 10 out of 13 draw controls.
Each team found the back of the net once in the third quarter as Sliwkowski scored for the Bears. In the final 15 minutes, Brown outscored Vermont 3-2 behind goals from Farley, Nozzolillo, and Batchelder.
Brown will travel to New York, N.Y. to take on Columbia on Saturday, Apr. 4, the opening draw control is scheduled for 1 p.m.
