Men's Hockey Hosts Rensselaer Friday; Union Saturday on Senior Night

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (6-16-2, 6-10-2 ECAC) host a pair of conference foes in a crucial ECAC weekend at Meehan Auditorium. The Bears host the Rensselaer Engineers (13-18-3, 8-10-0 ECAC) on Friday (Feb. 18) before welcoming the Union Dutchmen (10-16-3, 7-10-1 ECAC) on Saturday (Feb. 19) for Senior Night.
Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SENIOR NIGHT AT MEEHAN AUDITORIUM
- Prior to Saturday's puck drop, Brown University Athletics and the men's hockey program will honor its six seniors and one graduate student for their contributions to the program and Division in their collegiate careers.
- Senior defenseman Dorian Dawson, senior forward Jake Harris, senior goalie Gabriel Vinal, assistant captains Justin Jallen, Luke Kania, Michael Maloney, and captain Tristan Crozier are set to be recognized for their undeniably unique Brown careers.
- Brown enters the weekend with a 6-16-2 overall record and 6-10-2 conference mark. The Bears are 2-2-2 in February and sit eighth in the ECAC standings, tied with Union and three points back of sixth-place Rensselaer.
- Jallen leads the Bears with seven goals, 13 points, and 60 shots on goal this season. Junior defenseman Samuli Niinisaari leads the team with nine assists.
- Between the pipes, freshman Mathieu Caron holds a 2.83 goals against average and .911 save percentage. In six starts this month, Caron boasts a 2.70 goals against average and .926 save percentage.
- Brown's penalty kill ranks sixth in the ECAC and 19th in the NCAA at 83.5% (81-for-97).
- Rensselaer enters the weekend with a 13-18-3 overall record and 8-10-0 ECAC conference mark. The Engineers are 4-7-0 in the last 11 games dating back to mid-January.
- Ture Linden leads the team offensively with 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points. He also leads RPI with 78 shots. As a team, RPI ranks seventh in the conference with 2.44 goals per game and in total, 11 Engineers have 10 or more points this season.
- Between the pipes, Jack Watson leads goaltenders with a 1.81 goals against average and .941 save percentage in 10 starts, including six of the last seven games. Linden Marshall has made 23 starts for Rensselaer and holds a 2.52 goals against average and .897 save percentage.
- On special teams, Rensselaer ranks sixth in the ECAC and 44th in the NCAA with a 16.0% rate on the power play (16-for-100).
- RPI's penalty kill is stellar at 88.7% to rank second in the ECAC and fifth in the NCAA. The Engineers have allowed 13 power play goals in 115 opponent power plays, and have allowed just four power play goals since the start of 2022.
- Friday night marks the 106th meeting between Brown and Rensselaer in a series dating back to 1951. Brown holds a 33-64-8 all-time record in the series and a 18-23-4 home record against the Engineers.
- The Bears look for their third season sweep over the Engineers in the last four seasons on Friday, last winning both games of the season series in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
- Union enters the weekend with a 10-16-3 overall record and 7-10-1 ECAC mark. Under the guidance of interim head coach John Ronan, the Dutchmen hold a 4-5-0 record.
- The Dutchmen are led offensively by Liam Robertson's 11 goals. Brandon Estes leads the team in assists (16), points (22), and shots (69). Seven Dutchmen have recorded 10 or more point in addition to Estes and Robertson.
- Between the pipes, Connor Murphy has started all 29 games and holds a 2.72 goals against average and .918 save percentage.
- Union's power play clicks at 20.2% (21-for-104) to rank third in the ECAC and 26th in the NCAA.
- Union's penalty kill enters the weekend at 78.9% (75-for-95) to rank 11th in the ECAC and 38th in the NCAA.
- Saturday marks the 63rd meeting between Brown and Union in a series dating back to 1989. Brown holds a 26-23-13 overall record against Union and a 11-10-8 home record.
- With Union taking the first meeting of the season in Schenectady, Brown looks for the season split with the Dutchmen this Saturday.
- Since the 1999-2000 season, Brown holds even with an 8-8-5 record on Senior Nights at Meehan Auditorium.
