
Women's soccer to take on UC Irvine in NCAA Tournament Second Round

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's soccer team is set to face UC Irvine in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament this Friday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. CT/4 p.m. ET in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The winner of this second-round matchup will move on to face the winner of the Alabama/Portland contest in the third round.
Friday's game will be the first-ever matchup between Brown and UC Irvine.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (13-2-2, 5-0-1 Ivy)
- Brown advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last three years with a 1-0 victory over No. 24 Rutgers in the first round last Saturday.
- Ava Seelenfreund scored the game-winning goal in the 81st minute of action off an assist from Kira Maguire.
- Seelenfreund was the most active player throughout the game for the Bears, registering seven total shots. Brittany Raphino took four, while Sheyenne Allen and Miya Grant-Clavijo both had two each.
- The goal pushed Seelenfreund into the team lead with 10 on the season. She (10G, 1A, 21P) and Raphino (9G, 4A, 22P) are the only two Ivy League teammates to each have at least 21 points on the year. They are also the only two Ivy teammates with at least nine goals.
- Maguire's assist gave her six on the year, tying her with Allen for the team lead. Maguire is third on the team with 16 points.
- Bella Schopp picked up her fourth individual shutout of the year against Rutgers. She made three saves, including one on a set piece in the waning seconds to keep the Bears in the lead. On the season, the Bears have posted nine shutouts.
- Brown's 2.88 goals per game rank them as the third-best scoring offense in the country. The Bears' .706 goals against average is 31st in the nation.
- Brown is currently ranked at No. 19 in TopDrawerSoccer's National Ranking and No. 28 in the NCAA DI RPI.
- UC Irvine advanced to the second round by beating No. 14 USC 2-0 last weekend. Destinee Manzo scored early and Alyssa Moore added an insurance goal late to secure the win for the Anteaters.
- USC outshot the Anteaters 16-12 and 8-3 on goals, but UC Irvine managed the victory regardless.
- Manzo and Moore sit first and second on the team respectively in both goals (6 and 5) and points (15 and 10).
- The Anteaters averaged 1.45 goals per game. Their goals against of average of is just behind Brown's at .713 and 33rd in the country.
- Glo Hinojosa has started all 22 games for the Anteaters in goal, posting a .832 save percentage.
- US Irvine is currently unranked by TopDrawerSoccer and No. 140 in the RPI.
- The Bears are making their third straight and ninth overall NCAA Tournament appearance. This is UC Irvine's fourth overall appearance.
- The Anteaters have made it to the second round in each of the last two iterations, beating USC this year and taking down UCLA in last year's tournament.
- Brown is appearing in the tournament's second round for the second time in the last three seasons. In 2019, the Bears advanced over Monmouth on penalty kicks.
- This year's win over Rutgers in the first round, was the program's first true NCAA Tournament victory since 1994 as the Monmouth result was recorded as a tie. Seelenfreund's goal was the first NCAA Tournament goal the program has scored since 1994.
