CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown Bears closed the fall slate with two days of racing at the 57th Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday and Sunday.
The Bears had six boats compete over the weekend: four eights and two fours, with the club crews competing on Saturday and the Championship crews on Sunday.
"Six crews raced for Brown this weekend and each crew brought a strong performance to the race course," said Head Coach Paul Cooke '89. "The entire squad is engaged and enthusiastic and it was a strong team performance.
"The Head of the Charles is always a good checkpoint and all the crews got a good picture of where they stand and what the standard is," Cooke continued. "The level of competition is very high but the margins of victory between the crews are very small. This team is in a strong position and will make steady gains. It's an exciting time to be part of Brown Men's Crew."
The Championship Eight 'A' crew clocked a time of 13:43.057 to finish eighth among 25 finishing crews on Sunday. The Bears were sixth among collegiate crews with Syracuse taking the top collegiate finish with a time of 13:33.315. The Orange finished second overall to the USRowing crew with Henry Hollingsworth '22 in the stroke-seat.

The Championship Four crew finished 12th overall and 10th among collegiate crews with a time of 16:09.600. The Cornell Big Red finished second overall and first among colleges with a time of 15:42.017.
On Saturday, Brown's Club Four finished sixth among 48 finishing crews with a time of 16:57.372. The crew was second among collegiate boats in the field, trailing only Fairfield (16:52.019), who finished third overall.
Brown's Club Eight 'A' crew clocked a time of 14:27.848 on Saturday to finish second only to Harvard's 'A' boat. The Bears were seven seconds ahead of third-place Riverside 'A'.
