Women's Hockey Win Streak Ends at No. 7 Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Brown women's hockey team had its two-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon in a 5-1 loss at No. 7 Yale.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Sophomore forward Anna Gallagher scored her second goal of the season late in the second period, marking the second straight game the Bears scored on the power play.
Senior Shay Maloney tallied an assist on the goal, running her point streak to four consecutive games.
Grad student Megan Forrest also had an assist, marking her third straight game, and fourth time in the last five games, with at least one point.
Brown was 1-for-2 on the power play, and killed off all four of its shorthanded situations.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Yale struck first at the 13:05 mark of the opening period when Maya Kerfoot snuck a shot between the goaltender's shoulder and the crossbar to go up 1-0.
The Eli's added to their lead midway through the second period on a goal from Anna Bargman at 9:48 of the frame.
The Bears got on the board late in the second period on a tik-tac-toe goal when Maloney sent a puck across the middle to Forrest, who quickly sent it back across the goal mouth to Gallagher who one-timed it into the net for the power play tally at 17:32 of the period.
Yale added to its lead, finishing the game with three unanswered goals, the first of which came just 1:16 after Brown scored, giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead after two periods.
Yale struck right after the opening draw to start the final period, scoring 24 seconds in, then adding some more cushion with another goal at the 8:46 mark.

Brown will continue its three-game road trip next weekend by heading to Union in Schenectady, N.Y. on Friday, Feb. 4 before traveling to Dartmouth next Sunday Feb. 6.
