Women’s Hockey Heads to Union and Dartmouth for Postseason Push

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – With just six games remaining in the regular season, the Brown women's hockey team is ready for a final push towards the postseason, starting with two games this weekend; Friday at Union and Sunday at Dartmouth.
Winners of two of their last three games, Brown defeated both Dartmouth and Union earlier this season at home and rank ahead of both schools in the ECAC standings. The Bears sit two places out of the final spot in the upcoming ECAC Conference Tournament.

ON DECK
Brown will conclude its home schedule next weekend when they welcome St. Lawrence on Friday and Clarkson on Saturday. Saturday's contest will serve as Senior Day with the Class of 2022 being honored in a postgame ceremony.

SCOUTING BROWN (4-17-2, 4-11-1 ECAC)
- The Bears proved victorious in two of their three games last week, including scoring a season-high four goals in a 4-1 upset win over then No. 7 Yale on Friday. The Bears previously downed Union 2-1 at home last Tuesday.
- Brown then fell 5-1 at Yale on Sunday to conclude the week.
- For her performance in last week's three games, sophomore goaltender Kaley Doyle was named both the ECAC Goaltender and Rookie of the Week after stopping 53 of the 55 shots she faced (.964 save pct.) in the two wins, in addition to making 40 saves at Yale on Sunday.
- Senior captain Shay Maloney has at least one point in each of the last four games, while grad student Megan Forrest has a three-game point streak.
- The victory over Yale marked Brown's first win over a ranked opponent since taking down No. 6 Cornell on Nov. 3, 2018.
- The Bears four wins in ECAC play are its most conference victories since the 2016-17 season.
- Brown is scoring 1.7 goals per game this season and allowing 3.2 goals per contest, a marked improvement over the 2019-20 season when they scored 1.1 and allowed 4.1 goals per game.
SCOUTING UNION (4-22-1, 1-14-0 ECAC)
- The Dutchwomen have dropped seven straight games dating back to the December 11, which includes a 2-1 loss to Brown last Tuesday at Meehan Auditorium. Union has been outscored by a 27-4 margin during the streak.
- Union is scoring 1.2 goals per game this season while allowing 3.9 goals per contest.
- The Dutchwomen are also 12-for-107 on the power play.
- Grace Heiting is the team's leading scorer with eight goals and 12 points.
- Celeste Beaudoin has a team-leading eight assists to go with 11 points. Maren Friday and Maddie Suitor are tied for second with four goals apiece.
- Olivia Rizel has started 19 games in goal this season, while posting a 3.75 goals-against average and an .884 save percentage.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH (8-15-0, 2-14-0 ECAC)
- The Big Green also enter this weekend riding a seven-game skid into Sunday's matchup with Brown, which will conclude a seven-day layoff since their last game, a 4-2 loss at home to No. 10 Clarkson.
- Dartmouth is scoring 2.4 goals per game this season, while surrendering 3.3.
- Laura Fuoco is the team's leader in points with 13, tied for second on the squad with seven goals and tied for the team lead with seven assists.
- Tiffany Hill, Gabby Billing and Currie Putrah all have 12 points this season, with Putrah's seven assists and plus/minus of +3 tied for the team lead.
