Men's Hockey Travels to Princeton for ECAC Matchup Friday; Hosts LIU Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (4-12-0, 4-7-0 ECAC) travel to New Jersey to take on the Princeton Tigers (4-11-2, 3-6-1 ECAC) in an ECAC conference game Friday afternoon at Hobey Baker Rink. On Sunday (Jan. 30), Brown hosts LIU (6-14-3, Independent) in the non-conference finale at Meehan Auditorium.
Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. while Sunday's game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Both games will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

ATTENDANCE POLICIES
- Per Princeton policy, fans are not permitted to attend Friday's game at Hobey Baker Rink.
- Fans are welcome at Brown University Athletics events provided they wear a mask while indoors.
- Brown enters the weekend with a 4-12-0 overall record and 4-7-0 ECAC conference mark. The Bears sit in eighth place in the conference standings with 13 league points in 11 games and are five points behind fifth-place Rensselaer (11-14-3, 6-7-0 ECAC) and five points ahead of 12th-place Dartmouth (3-12-2, 2-8-1 ECAC).
- Brown fell at Union last Friday (Jan. 21) before capturing a 3-2 come-from-behind road win at Rensselaer on Saturday (Jan. 22). Matt Sutton recorded his first career goal, , Tristan Crozier scored his second shorthanded goal of the season, and Luke Krys buried his first career game-winner in the victory.
- Senior forward Justin Jallen leads the team with five goals and 10 points. The assistant captain saw his six-game point streak (5-3-8) end on Saturday against the Engineers. Junior defenseman Samuli Niinisaari leads the team with six assists.
- Between the pipes, freshman Mathieu Caron holds a 2.87 goals against average and .914 save percentage in 10 starts.
- Princeton enters the weekend with a 4-11-2 overall record and 3-6-1 ECAC conference mark. The Tigers sit in 11th in the conference standings with 11 league points in 10 games played.
- The Tigers upended the eighth-ranked Cornell Big Red on the road last weekend before earning a tie at Colgate to pick up four league points. On Wednesday (Jan. 26), Princeton played host to Quinnipiac, falling 6-0 in conference play.
- After starting the season 3-1-1, Princeton lost nine straight games to close out the first half of the season. The Tigers returned in January to suffer a 9-0 loss at Quinnipiac before earning a win and tie last weekend.
- Corey Andonovski leads the team offensively with six goals and six assists for 12 points. Ian Murphy is second on the team in scoring with five goals and five assists for 10 points.
- Defensively, Princeton allows the most goals per game in the ECAC and second-most in the NCAA at 4.11.
- Between the pipes, Aidan Porter holds a 3.32 goals against and a .881 save percentage in seven starts. Jeremie Forget holds a 4.03 goals against average and a .878 save percentage in eight starts.
- Princeton's special teams rank near the bottom of the NCAA with a power play that ranks eighth in the ECAC and 41st in the NCAA (13.1% - 8-for-61). Princeton's penalty kill is 11th in the ECAC and 42nd in the NCAA (78.2% - 61-for-78).
- Friday afternoon marks the 178th meeting between Brown and Princeton in a series dating back to 1900.
- Brown holds a 92-73-12 overall record in the series and a 40-33-7 record at Hobey Baker Rink.
- LIU enters the weekend with a 6-14-2 overall record, competing in its second season of Division I competition as an Independent program.
- Five of LIU's six wins have come against non-Division I opponents. Three of those wins have come against St. Anselm along with single wins against Post and Assumption.
- LIU did capture a 7-4 win over Miami (Ohio) in November, splitting the road series with the RedHawks.
- The Sharks finished its inaugural season in 2020-21 with a 3-10-0 record, taking wins over Holy Cross, RIT, and Army.
- Among a 32-man roster that includes 14 transfers, Billy Jerry is tied for the team-lead with six goals alongside Jordan Timmons. Jerry leads the team in assists (12) and points (18).
- LIU's offense ranks 37th in the NCAA with 2.65 goals scored per game. Defensively, LIU ranks 51st in the NCAA with 3.61 goals allowed per game.
- Between the pipes, graduate student Kris Karlson, an Alaska Anchorage transfer, leads LIU goaltenders with a 3.52 goals against average in 13 starts and holds a .878 save percentage. Senior Vincent Purpura, a Boston University transfer, leads LIU goaltenders with a .884 save percentage in eight starts along with a 3.54 goals against average.
- On special teams, LIU ranks in the bottom third of the NCAA. The power play clicks at 14.9% (15-for-101) to rank 46th in the NCAA while the penalty kill clicks at 74.4% (67-for-90) to rank 54th in the NCAA.
- Sunday afternoon marks the first game between Brown and LIU in series history. For Brown, LIU marks the 79th NCAA opponent faced in program history.
- LIU marks the first new opponent since the Bears took on the now-defunct Robert Morris Colonials in the 2019 Three Rivers Classic in Pittsburgh.
- The Sharks are the 108th different opponent in Brown history regardless of affiliation.
- Brown holds a 42-31-5 record in the first meeting against NCAA opponents in program history. Against all opponents regardless of affiliation, Brown holds a 56-46-5 record in first-ever meetings.
