Scouting the Bears (9-11, 1-4 IVY)
- Brown will be looking to get back on track this weekend after three of its four Ivy League losses have come by four or fewer points. Last time out, the Bears fell 66-63 to Yale.
- In the game against the Bulldogs, Tamenang Choh had a career day, posting 30 points for the first time as a Bear and grabbing 12 boards as well. In five Ivy League games to date, Choh leads the league in both points (23.4) and rebounds (10.0) per game. He is the only Ivy player to be averaging a double-double.
- Kino Lilly Jr. continues to climb the rookie ranks in Brown history, as his 36 points across two games last weekend pushed him into the top 10 all-time in points scored by a freshman. His 269 points on the year put him in ninth place in program history, after passing Peter Sullivan '08 and Brandon Anderson '17 who had been tied for ninth with 245. Lilly could conceivably move into sixth place this weekend, with the next three spots on the list occupied by Leland Kind '14 (278), Eric Blackiston '93 (282), and Carlos Williams '90 (287).
- Columbia dropped a 91-82 decision in its last game at home against Harvard. Accoring to the Lions' notes, they were without Ike Nweke, Josh Odunowo, and Patrick Harding against the Crimson, three players with 24 starts between them.
- Nweke leads Columbia this season with 17.8 points and 6.4 rebounds, though he has only played in five games. Liam Murphy, who has started all 15 games for the Lions, is next on the team with 12.5 points. Odunowo averages 5.0 rebounds.
- Columbia's scoring offense of 69.2 points per game is seventh in the Ivy league, with their scoring defense of 77.3 points allowed per game coming in dead last.
- The series between Brown and Columbia has been tightly contested over the years, with the Lions holding the slight 76-70 edge.
- The Bears are winners of two in a row as they swept the Lions during the 2019-20 season with a pair of 72-66 victories.
- During the Mike Martin era, the teams have played 16 times and split the meetings at eight wins apiece.
