HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harvard jumped on the board first at 12:01 of the second period on a shot by Maryna McDonald from near the blueline that found its way through a screen and into the back of the net.
- Brown knotted things up just over five minutes later when Anderson let loose a wrist shot from the top of the right wing circle that tucked inside the left post. Forrest and Gross each earned assists.
- However, the Crimson provided an answer just 1:09 later when Emma Buckles put in a rebound from over near the side wall off a wild bounce off the end boards to give Harvard a 2-1 lead they carried into the second intermission.
- Brown made it a one-goal game once again at 6:41 of the third period when Forrest cleared a puck off the glass and into the offensive zone. Gross hustled after the loose puck and knocked it away from the goaltender in the slot. Forrest intercepted the Harvard clearing attempt and buried it in the wide open net to make it 3-2.
- Harvard padded its lead at 9:57 of the period, when Kristin Della Rovere grabbed a puck in the neutral zone and skated in clean on net and slid it between the right post and the goaltender's skate.
- Harvard iced the game away with an empty net goal with 1:10 remaining.
QUOTES FROM THE COACH
- "The first period we were pinned in our defensive zone a lot and we executed our defense well. They didn't do much against us. We did a great job to have it be scoreless after one period. In the second period we played outstanding."
- "We came at them hard and had a chance to score a couple more, but at the end of the day we competed really well. I think we gave them a tough night and caught them a bit by surprise."
- "On a night when we were shorthanded, Paige Gross stepped into a huge role on one of our top lines and played amazing. She was dialed in, knew our system and played really well."
- On Harvard coach Katey Stone's 500th career victory:
"She's a strong woman and someone who has stood up for our sport. We congratulate Katey for her 500th win and recognize what she has offered to women's ice hockey over the years."
