Men's Hockey Set to Host Yale Saturday in 2021-22 Season Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's hockey opens the 2021-22 season Saturday (Oct. 30) at Meehan Auditorium as the Yale Bulldogs come to town for a 7 p.m. start.
Saturday's season-opener will stream on ESPN+ with Dan Rubin on the call.

- Season tickets for Brown men's hockey are available now. Click here to purchase your season pass to Meehan Auditorium, with adult passes coming in at $96 and youth passes coming in at $64.
SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown's roster features 17 returners from 2019-20 along with 13 newcomers – 10 of whom are freshmen.
- Among the newcomers, six most recently played in the BCHL, three most recently played in the NAHL, three most recently played in the USHL, and one most recently played in the AJHL.
- The Bears finished the 2019-20 season with an 8-21-2 overall record and 8-12-2 ECAC conference mark to finish ninth in the standings. The Bears ultimately fell in the ECAC First Round series at Colgate to finish the season.
- Justin Jallen led the returners in scoring in 2019-20, tallying nine goals and 13 points in 31 games. Bradley Cocca is second on that list, finishing 2019-20 with five goals and 10 points.
- Senior assistant captain Michael Maloney leads the Bears with 65 career games played. He is closely followed by Jallen (64), Dorian Dawson (64), and captain Tristan Crozier (53).
- Luke Kania returns for a fifth-season between the pipes for Brown. The Chicago, Illinois native posted a .905 save percentage and 3.11 goals against average in 2019-20. In his career, Kania holds a .906 save percentage and 3.01 goals against average in 41 career games.
SCOUTING YALE
- The Bulldogs return just 10 players from the 2019-20 squad that finished with a 15-15-2 overall record and 10-10-2 conference record.
- Yale finished seventh in the ECAC standings in 2019-20, beating Union in the ECAC First Round Series before the remainder of the playoffs were canceled.
- The Bulldogs have one of the smallest rosters in NCAA Hockey in 2021-22, with just 24 players: 13 forwards, eight defensemen, and three goaltenders.
- Of the 13 forwards, six have played at the collegiate level with a combined 161 games played.
- Of the top-10 scorers from 2019-20, Justin Pearson is the lone returner. He finished the 2019-20 season second on the team with 14 goals and 24 points and enters the new campaign with 20 goals and 21 assists in 64 career games played.
- Five of Yale's eight defensemen have not played at the collegiate level. Yale captain Graham Lillibridge leads the unit with 58 games played, Brandon Tabakin has 17 games of collegiate experience, and Michael Young has 15 collegiate games of experience under his belt.
- Between the pipes, the three Yale goaltenders have not played at the collegiate level. Connor Hopkins is the longest tenured goalie as a junior, but did not see game action in 2019-20 as a freshman.

- From Brown's first collegiate game in January 1898 to the last meeting in November 2019, Brown and Yale have squared off 188 times in series history.
- The Bears hold a 76-104-8 all-time record against the Bulldogs, a 40-40-3 record at home against Yale, and a 32-28-3 record against Yale at Meehan Auditorium.

- Brown and Yale opened the 2019-20 season with consecutive games, with each team taking a win in the opening series.
- Yale captured a 3-2 victory in the 2019-20 season-opener. Nathan Plessis and Cocca scored for the Bears in the road loss.
- Brown took a 5-1 win the next night at Meehan Auditorium behind a hat trick from Jallen. The remaining Brown goals were scored by Chris Berger and Cocca.
