Men’s Hockey Hosts No. 15 Arizona State For A Pair This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's hockey team will open a four-game home stand this weekend when it hosts No. 15 Arizona State for a pair of contests at Meehan Auditorium. Sunday's game will air on NESN, while both games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
Brown dropped a one-goal game at Boston University on Wednesday, falling in overtime, 3-2, at Agganis Arena. Zach Giuttari and Justin Jallen both scored in the first period to spot the Bears a two-goal lead, but the Terriers scored three unanswered for the win, capped by Wilmer Skoog's game winner at 2:39 in OT. Gavin Nieto had 22 saves in the loss for the Bears. Brown outshot the Terriers by a 28-25 margin, including 15-5 in the middle frame.

Scouting Arizona State
No. 15 ASU (11-8-3) is 1-2-1 over its last four games and most recently split a pair against Michigan Tech. Johnny Walker is the team's top scorer with 12 goals, while fellow junior James Sanchez leads the team in points (25) and assists (19). Five players on the team have at least five goals. ASU is averaging 3.05 goals per game, which is ranked 20th in the nation, and is 15.9 percent on the power play. Evan Debrouwer (10-8-3) heads into the weekend with a 2.58 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 20 starts. ASU reached the NCAA Tournament last season, falling to Quinnipiac in the regional semifinal.

Brown and Arizona State have just one previous meeting in the history of the two programs, when the teams tied, 8-8, to open the Desert Hockey Shootout during the 2016-17 season. Brown then scored during the 3-on-3 overtime to advance to the championship game of the tournament. Five different players scored for the Bears in the game, led by Charlie Corcoran with four goals, one of three skaters with at least four points.

Power Up
Brown has two power-play goals over its last two games and now ranks 14th in the nation at 22.5 percent (9/40). Bradley Cocca and Justin Jallen pace the lineup with three power-play goals apiece.
