PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University softball dropped a doubleheader to Princeton University in its first Ivy League home games of the season, 1-0 and 6-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Brown Softball Field.
The Bears (8-16, 1-7 Ivy) allowed just one run in the top of the fourth in game one and limited the Tigers (9-16, 5-3 Ivy) to just one run after the top of the first in game two before the visitors took both contests.
"Outside of one inning today, our pitchers held Princeton to two runs over 13 innings," Brown head coach Kate Refsnyder said. "We just have to find a way to get our bats going in the series finale tomorrow."
In game one, freshman Lauren Innerst (San Jose, Calif.) threw a complete-game 7.0 innings and gave up just one run with three strikeouts. In game two, junior Emily Waters (Northridge, Calif.) limited Princeton to one run with four strikeouts over 6.2 innings of relief. Between the two games, senior Cat Seitz (Poway, Calif.) went 2-for-5 with two doubles.
Next, Brown concludes the three-game series with Princeton tomorrow, Sunday, Apr. 7, with a single game at 12:30 p.m. (ESPN+).
