
Women’s Lacrosse Heads to No. 9 Princeton

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will continue Ivy League action and travel to No. 9 Princeton on Saturday, March 23 for a 12:00 p.m. contest.

BEAR LEADERS
Sophomore Risa Mosenthal leads the Bears in both goals and points with 30 goals and five assists for 35 points. Sophomore Maggie Fowler ranks second on the team in scoring with a squad best 14 assists and six goals for 20 points. Junior Emma DeGennaro comes in at third with 16 goals and two assists for 18 points. Mosenthal leads the Ivy League in goals and is second in points while Fowler was fourth in assists. Defensively, sophomore Mason Warble has a team high 16 caused turnovers, good for third in the conference while she is also fourth in the league in ground balls (20). In net, Erin Tucker has started all seven games and has put together a 12.44 goals-against average and a .440 save percentage. She leads the conference in saves (9.43 per game) and has registered double-digit stops in five contests this year.
LAST TIME OUT
Brown defeated Yale, 14-11, to pick up its first conference win in its Ivy League home opener on Saturday at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The victory marks the Bears' first over the Bulldogs since the 2011 season. After trailing by one in a tightly contested first half, Brown outscored Yale 8-4 in the second with a five-goal run while holding Yale scoreless for over 19 minutes. Freshman Sophia DeRosa had a career day to lead the Bears, scoring her first collegiate goal in the contest and ending with four scores. Sophomore Risa Mosenthal also added four tallies, her fourth-straight game with at least a hat trick. On the other side of the ball, freshman Erin Tucker concluded the afternoon with seven saves and shut down Yale in the second half by turning away five shots while allowing just four goals.
ALL-TIME VS. PRINCETON
The Tigers hold a 35-4 advantage in the all-time series versus the Bears. Brown last won in 2014, a 14-13 overtime victory in Providence, R.I., while Princeton took last year's contest, 12-10, at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton is 5-1 this season, ranking ninth in the IWLCA Coaches Poll while winning its last four contests. The Tigers are 3-1 against ranked teams this season, defeating No. 8 Penn State (21-10, Feb. 27), No. 18 Stony Brook (15-14, Mar. 9) and No. 16 Florida (13-11, Mar. 19) while falling to No. 12 Virginia (14-9, Feb. 23). Three players share the point lead at 27, with Tess D'Orsi leading the squad with a team-high 23 goals and four assist. Kyla Sears paces the team in assists with 11 and also has 16 goals. Sam Fish has started all six games in between the pipes and has a 10.01 goals-against average and a .496 save percentage. Princeton leads the Ivy League in goals (16 per game), assists (8 per game), points (24 per game) and shot percentage (.537).
MOSENTHAL RANKED NATIONALLY IN SCORING
Sophomore Risa Mosenthal is currently tied for fifth in the nation in goals per game (4.29) and is also tied for 12th in points per game (5.00). She has recorded at least a hat trick in six of Brown's seven games this season and has registered at least two goals in every career game (22 games played). The Campton, N.H. native led the Bears in scoring a year ago with 64 points while also notching a team-high 55 goals on her way to Second Team All-Ivy honors.
BEARS LEAD THE IVY LEAGUE IN CAUSED TURNOVERS
Brown leads the Ivy League in caused turnovers, averaging 11.86 per game, which also ranks 10th in the nation. Sophomore Mason Warble leads the Bears with 16 caused turnovers while junior Emily Fryer and freshman Alaina Parisella both have 10.
