Holy Cross Tops Brown In Overtime, 11-10

Providence, R.I. –Drew Babiak scored with 1.2 seconds remaining in the second overtime period to lead Holy Cross to its first ever win over Brown, 11-10, Tuesday evening at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Brown falls to 3-3 overall, while Holy Cross improves to 3-4 on the season.
"Hats off to Holy Cross," said Brown head coach Mike Daly. "They are a good, hard working team who made more plays than we did. Sadly we came up short. This one's on the coach. We have to do a better job."
With the score tied, 9-9, Brown sophomore Ryan Aughavin (Glen Head, NY) scored his fourth goal of the game with 2:00 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Bears a 10-9 advantage. Justin Lynsky tied the game for the Crusaders with 1:00 left to send the game into overtime.
The Crusaders won the face-off in the first overtime, but Bears' goalie Phil Goss (San Francisco, CA) made a one-on-one save at the 3:37 mark. Brown had an opportunity to win the game in the last seconds, but Crusaders' goalie Jonathan Tesoro made a sprawling save as time expired.
In the second overtime, Goss made two saves to keep the Bears even, but Babiak's goal came on an unsettled situation just before the second overtime period was to expire.
Augavin paced the Bears with four goals and one assist. Freshman Darian Cook (Redding, CT) and junior Luke McCaleb (Chevy Chase, MD) netted three goals each for Brown.
Sean Mullaney tossed in four goals for the Crusaders, while Babiak netted three goals.
Goss made 14 saves for the Bears, while Tesoro registered five saves for the Crusaders.
Holy Cross out-shot the Bears by a 56-035 margin and had a 36-26 advantage in ground balls.
Brown held a 4-3 lead with 13:06 left in the second quarter on a goal by Cook, but the Crusaders answered with four straight goals to end the half with a 7-4 advantage, with two goals by Babiak, and one each by Sean Mullaney and Connor Waldron.
Brown outscored the Crusaders by a 3-1 margin in the third quarter on goals by McCaleb, Aughavin and Cook with 1:08 left in the quarter to trail, 8-7, heading in to the final quarter.
Brown heads to Amherst, Mass., for the 52ndmeeting with UMass at Garbor Field on Saturday, March 23 at 1:00 pm.
