
Men’s Soccer Visits Harvard on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's soccer team will travel to Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday, Oct. 19 to face off against Harvard in Ivy League action starting at 12:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore goalkeeper James Swomley made seven saves, but Brown dropped a 1-0 decision to Ocean State rival Rhode Island on Tuesday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The Bears and Rams played to a scoreless draw for 70 minutes before the visitors broke through in the 71st minute, and the hosts could not find an equalizer in the final 20 minutes.
BALANCED ATTACK
Brown has featured a balanced attack in 2019 with 13 different student-athletes registering points and seven different players tallying goals. Senior Daniel Schiller leads the club with three points on a goal and an assist. Senior Jackson Goebel, sophomores Alex Mina and Malcolm Johnson, and freshmen Brady Van Epps, Owen Schwartz and Michael Chung have each scored one goal.
THE GOALKEEPERS
Sophomore James Swomley leads the goalkeepers with six starts, a 1.24 goals-against average, a .805 save percentage, and 33 total saves. Swomley ranks second in the Ivy League in both save percentage (.805) and saves per game (4.71). Junior Max Gross – three starts, .722 save percentage, and 1.67 GAA – and sophomore Max Waldau – one start, .800 save percentage, and 2.00 GAA – have also seen action this season.
SCOUTING HARVARD
Harvard enters Saturday with a 0-8-1 overall record and a 0-2 mark in Ivy play. The Crimson fell to Boston University on Tuesday, 2-0, and Cornell, 6-0, on Saturday in their most recent action. Duncan Sutherland leads the team in points with five on two goals and one assist while Alfred Perez is second with four points on two scores. Oskar Nilsson has started five games in goal and has 2.57 goals against average, a .724 save percentage and a conference leading 7.00 saves per game.
LAST TIME VS. THE CRIMSON
Brown defeated Harvard, 1-0, in double overtime in last year's meeting on Oct. 13 in Providence. Toby Howell '19 recorded the game winner in the 103rd minute while seniors Daniel Schiller and Rodrigo D'Andrea assisted the score. Sophomore James Swomley made two saves in the victory for the Bears.
