
Women’s Hockey Opens 2019 With Home Series Versus RIT

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's hockey team will open the New Year with a home non-conference series versus RIT on Friday, Jan. 4 and Saturday, Jan. 5 at Meehan Auditorium. Friday's game will start at 6:00 p.m. while Saturday's finale will begin at 3:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
RIT closed out 2018 with a 5-10-4 record. The Tigers dropped their last two games to Boston University on Dec. 7 (3-1) and Dec. 8 (8-0). Kendall Cornine leads the team in goals (8) and points (13) while also logging five assists. Brittney Gout ranks second on the squad in points (11) and has three goals and is tied for the team-lead in assists with eight. Terra Lanteigne has started all 19 games in net and has a 2.30 goals-against average, a .934 save percentage and one shutout (2-0 vs. Holy Cross, Sept. 28). The Tigers have a 3-0-2 record when they are able to gain a lead in the first period but are 0-5-0 when trailing after the opening frame.
BROWN LEADERS
Sena Hanson leads the Bears in scoring with 12 points on a team-best nine goals and three assists. Freshman Shay Maloney (1-7-8) is tied for second on the team in scoring with fellow rookie Lizzy Gross (5-3-8) with eight points. Maloney paces the Bears in assists with seven. Junior Calla Isaac leads the netminder group in starts with seven and has a 3.41 GAA and a .911 save percentage. Freshman Hayley Kliczko has appeared in seven games (six starts) this season between the pipes, recording a 4.02 GAA and a .893 save percentage. The rookie recorded a career-best 44 saves at Union on Nov. 10 in a 2-2 tie, which included four saves in overtime.
LAST TIME VS. RIT
The Bears last squared off against the Tigers in the 2015-16 season, splitting the series in Rochester, N.Y. RIT claimed a 5-1 win in game one on Nov. 20 before Brown took the finale, 2-1 on Nov. 21. In game two, all three of the goals scored in the contest were power-play tallies. The first game also featured three power-play goals, with Brown's lone score a special team's goal.
ROOKIES MAKE AN IMPACT
Two of Brown's top three scorers this season are freshmen. Lizzy Gross and Shay Maloney are both tied for second on the team in points with eight. Gross has five goals and three assists while Maloney has one goal and a squad-best seven assists. Gross has been named ECAC Rookie of the Week (Oct. 22) and Rookie of the Month (Nov. 1). The freshman group leads all classes in assists (11) and points (21). The rookies are producing 33% of the Bears' assists and 34% of Brown's points. The Freshmen group is also tied with the junior class in goals with 10 (36%).

The Bears return to ECAC action with a home-and-home series versus Yale. The first game will be played in New Haven, Conn. on Friday, Jan. 11 at 6:00 p.m. while game two will be in Providence, R.I. on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 6:00 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
