The game opened with both teams alternating possession and senior Katie Hammaker (Ephrata, Pa.) and Hannah Teicher each saving a shot in net.
Quinnipiac would take a 1-0 lead at 20:54 on a score from Makayla Adams. Adams later added her second of the day at 28:14. The Bobcats would tack on two more before the end of the half, with Elisa Van Winkle (30:21) and Brooke Whipkey (31:33) recording the tallies. Quinnipiac outshot Brown 7-3 and also had a 2-1 edge in corners for the first.
Brown started the second half scoring when van Rootselaar registered her second goal of the season at 46:08 after she took it herself and fired in a shot near post from the top of the arc.
The Bobcats halted the Bears' momentum by increasing their lead to four on a goal from Amanda Blum at 49:15. Anna Walmsley added the final score for Quinnipiac at 56:54.
Brown outshot Quinnipiac in the second, 8-6, and led in corners, 2-1, but could only net one score in the half.
Brown next opens Ivy League action and will host Columbia on Saturday, Sept. 22 beginning at noon. The Bears will also welcome Georgetown to Goldberger Family Field for a non-conference game the following day (Sunday, Sept. 23) starting at noon.
