Field Hockey Earns First Win of 2025 With 1-0 Win Over Fairfield

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown field hockey team (1-2) earned a 1-0 win over Fairfield (2-4) for its first win of the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon at Goldberger Family Field.Â
Both teams had three shots in the first quarter, the Bears had two on goal, forcing Fairfield goalkeeper Payton Rahn to make two saves. Brown blocked two out of the three Fairfield shots in the opening 15 minutes.
The Stags applied pressure early in the second quarter, forcing Ellie Parker to make two saves through the first five minutes of the frame.
Brown broke the scoreless deadlock 6:23 into the second quarter when Lucy Adams got the ball on her stick and juggled the ball until she found teammate Lexi Pellegrino. Pellegrino moved towards the net as her initial shot hit the post, Pellegrino collected her own rebound and found the back of the net. Pellegrino's 26th career goal gave her 57 career points, moving her up to 10th in program history.Â
Parker went on to make one more save in the second quarter as the Bears took a 1-0 lead into the second half. Both teams had eight shots in the first half.
Brown mustered one shot in the third quarter, forcing Rahn to make her third save of the afternoon. Parker also had a save in the third, it was her fourth and final save of the game. The Bears didn't allow a shot for the final 25:57 of the contest, not giving Fairfield any chances to level the score at one.
Brown had four players tally two or more shots as Kiersten Smith paced the Bears with four overall and two on target. Ellie Parker's first career shutout comes in her first career collegiate win, the freshman is sporting a .750 save percentage in three starts this season.Â
Brown will begin Ivy League action when they welcome Yale (Sept. 20) before hosting Stonehill (Sept. 21), both games will be at 1 p.m. at Goldberger Family Field.
