
Field Hockey Ties Program Record with Eight Goals in 8-0 Win Over Stonehill

Sophia Clark had two early chances to put the Bears in front in the first two minutes, but both of her shots were turned aside by Stonehill goalkeeper Isabelle Morton.
The Bears got on the board 6:17 into the contest as Sadie Schultz scored her first career goal off of an assist from Alexandra Madrid. Brown extended its lead to 2-0 when Lexi Pellegrino netted her first goal of the game at 13:21, her goal was also assisted by Madrid. Brown controlled the pace in the opening 15 minutes with seven shots, they held Stonehill without a shot.
Pellegrino's second goal of the game came 5:38 into the second quarter, her 29th career goal moved her into fourth all-time in program history. Pellegrino added her third goal of the game 12:29 into the second quarter, she became the fourth player in program history to tally 30 goals. Pellegrino finished with three goals, giving her four in the last three games, she also now sits eighth in program history with 65 career points.
The Bears took a 4-0 lead into halftime, they out-shot Stonehill 12-1 in the first half, Ellie Parker made one save in the opening 30 minutes.
The Bears picked up where they left off, scoring three goals in the first 7:53 of the second half. Sophia Clark's first career goal opened the second half, Mia Karine Myklebust found the back of the net for the second time this season, and Juliette Meijaard rounded out the third quarter scoring with her first goal of the season.
The Bears generated five penalty corner chances in the third, which led to Myklebust's goal. The Bears out-shot the Skyhawks 10-0 in the third quarter. Brown's eighth and final goal came from Kate Siedem, her second of the season. Siedem's goal was assisted by Estelle Ballet.
Brown launched a season-high 27 shots and a season-high 16 on target. Stonehill's one shot on goal was the lowest for a Brown opponent this season.
Brown's 23 points were the most since they had 23 in a 7-2 win over Georgetown (Oct. 22, 2023), the Bears' seven assists are also the most since their win over Georgetown in 2023.
Brown had 12 players earn a point as Pellegrino led the way with six. Pellegrino's six points are the most since teammate Kiersten Smith had five in Brown's 8-1 win over Dartmouth (Oct. 4, 2024).
The shutout for Brown was also the second in three games at Goldberger Family Field this season.
The Bears will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 26 when they travel to Columbia at 3 p.m.
