Christina Bonney was named a volunteer assistant coach for the Brown women's swimming & diving program in 2018 and is now entering her fourth season with the Bears in 2021-22.
Bonney is no stranger to the Ivy League, having competed for the Yale swim program in 1995-97, and helping her team win the program's last two Ivy League Championships. She is a 1999 graduate from the University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Following Yale, Bonney received a Master of Science in Developmental Psychology (2004) and a PhD in Education and Psychology (2006) from the University of Michigan.
Her doctoral dissertation focused on achievement goals as they relate to college swimming performance and motivation. She uses this research to inform her work with the team on their goal-setting program, and in her work with all training groups. Her CrossFit background has also helped her provide support for the team’s strength and conditioning regimen.
Bonney is currently an IRB Manager at Brown in the Human Research Protection Program. She lives in Marion, Massachusetts with her husband and two children.
