Women's Swimming & Diving Beats Yale, 160-140

PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown women's swimming and diving won their home opener at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatic Center today, beating Yale 160-140. This is the women's first team win over Yale since 2012.
The Bears broke two school records today. The first was by Natalie Garre in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:52:19, beating the old record by 0.91 seconds. The second record was broken by first year Isabella Dieffenthaller in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:45:39 beating the record by 0.10 seconds that was set just last year.
The team also had multiple first-place finishes. Morgan Lukinac won the 50-yard freestyle (22.99) and the 100-yard freestyle (48.54) with Dieffenthaller in second and Kelly Dolce in third..
Nadia Thomas won the 200 yard backstroke (1:57.45). Lizzy Washburn won the 100-yard butterfly (54.57).
Crystal Yuen earned a first-place finish with a time of 4:48.53 in the 500 freestyle
Lastly, Yuen, Dolce, Lukinac, and Dieffenthaller finished first in the 400 yard freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 3:17.57.
Isabella George won the three-meter diving event with a score of 281.33. Elena Yeh finishing second in the one-meter event with 249.83 points.
UP NEXT
The Bears travel to Hanover, N.H. for a diving competition against Princeton and Dartmouth on Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. They will then have the swimmers compete Saturday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. for a tri-meet.
