Combined with the Nelson Fitness Center and Zucconi Varsity Strength & Conditioning Center, the building is LEED Gold Certified. The pool is solar-powered, with 168 dual-technology solar panels located on the roof providing enough electric and thermal energy to power the pool lights and regular water temperature. This installation is the largest hybrid solar-powered electrical and heating installation in the United States.
The facility has hosted several major events since its opening, including the Ivy League Men’s and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men’s Eastern Championships, Women’s Southern Division Championships and Men’s Northern Division Championships, and the Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) Swimming & Diving Championship.
