Brittan Davis (she/her), Ph.D., was hired as a Sport Psychologist at Brown in April 2023 following an extensive clinical career within various college/university departments.
Davis joins Brown from the University of Pennsylvania, where she most recently served as a staff psychologist within Student Health and Counseling and Liaison to Athletics and the LGBT Center. In addition to serving as a Liaison to Penn’s Athletics Department, Davis was also an active member of the STTOP (Sexual Trauma Treatment, Outreach, and Prevention) Team, the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Committee, Eating Concerns Team, and Training Committee. During her career at Penn, Davis co-facilitated a Support Group for Survivors of Sexual Assault, and led skills-based and psychoeducational workshops on various topics (e.g., mental health first aid for coaches and athletic trainers, suicide reduction training, distress tolerance skills, suicide reduction training, eating and body image concerns, issues related to identity/intersectionality, etc), and provided individual psychotherapy for a wide range of presenting clinical concerns.
In addition to her clinical work at Penn, Davis has co-facilitated team-based interventions for the US Field Hockey Team and has previously held positions at Cleveland State University, University of Akron, Oberlin College, and John Carroll University.
Davis graduated from Baldwin-Wallace University in 2008, where she played as a defensive center midfielder for the Women’s Varsity Soccer team and served on the SAAC. She then went on to earn her M.Ed. in Community Agency Counseling in 2011 and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Cleveland State University in 2017.
Davis is originally from Youngstown, Ohio, where her family continues to reside and her brother serves as Assistant Baseball Coach for the Youngstown State Penguins. In her free time, she enjoys the company of family and friends (and dog, Siggy), cooking, hiking, woodworking, and playing various sports including softball, soccer, basketball, and pickleball.
