Matt Callahan joined the Brown lacrosse coaching staff in 2017 after working for coach Mike Daly at Tufts as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in 2015 and 2016, helping the Jumbos win the NCAA National Championship in 2015 and reach the NCAA National Championship game in 2016.
“Matt is an extremely loyal person, who will bring a great competitiveness to our program and defense,” said Daly.
A 2013 graduate of Tufts, Callahan was the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s (USILA) recipient of the Williams C. Stiles Memorial award as the nation’s most outstanding defensive player as a senior. He was a USILA first team All-American in 2012 and 2013.
Callahan also earned New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association first team honors and was a New England Small College Athletic Conference first team pick in both 2012 and 2013.
Callahan was selected as the second pick in the second round in the MLL draft by Denver, drafted 14th overall. He spent the summer playing for the LXM Pro Tour, another professional lacrosse league.
