Sawyer Balint ’20 sailed with Brown Sailing from 2016 to 2020 as an undergraduate and competed in 53 regattas with the Bears. During his time at Brown, Balint served as fleet captain (2018-2019), crew captain (2019), and received the Fredrick H. Wilson, Jr. ’49 Sportsmanship Award (2019 and 2020). He was also named a two-time College Sailing Academic All-American (2019-2020). His college sailing highlights include 3rd at St. Mary’s Team Race (2020), 1st at the Sharpe Team Race (2020), 1st in A division at the George Warren Smith Trophy (2019), and 2nd in B division at the Moody Trophy (2019).
Balint currently lives in Providence, RI where he conducts water quality research. When he’s not coaching the team, he can often be found sailing along the East Coast with his father on their cruising sloop.
