PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown sailing team wrapped up the 2025 fall season with a sixth place finish in the College Sailing Match Race National Championship this past weekend.
The Bears sailed in J-70s at St. Petersburg Yacht Club hosted by the University of South Florida. The team of senior skipper Guthrie Braun, and crew junior Camren Spriggs, senior Katherine McNamara, and sophomore Charlie Gish finished with a 4-3 record in the shortened event, due to light winds. Brown lost a four way tiebreaker for third place overall. Senior Caroline Keefee-Jones and junior Blake Behrens served as alternates.
Braun, Spriggs, McNamara, and Gish finished second at the 2025 NEISA Match Race Championship at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in J-70s, and received selection to Nationals because of their strong resume by the College Sailing Nationals Selection Committee. In 2024 the same squad finished second at the Nationals.
Brown closed out the fall season with a second place finish at the College Sailing Women's Singlehanded National Championship from senior Katharine Doble, a sixth place finish at the College Sailing Open Singlehanded National Championship from senior Guthrie Braun, and a sixth place finish in the College Sailing Match Race National Championship.
