NORFOLK, Va. - The Brown sailing team saw five of its sailors compete in the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open and Women's Singlehanded Championships this weekend at Old Dominion University. The weekend was highlighted by senior Katharine Doble earning a second place finish in the women's race.
The women's sailing team had four sailors chosen as at-large selections: Katharine Doble, senior Kaitlyn Hamilton, junior Sidney Moyer, and first-year Leila Pfrang.
Doble earned a second-place finish, behind Cornell's Gilda Dondona. She posted top-five finishes in four out of her seven races. It all came down to the final race to determine placing. Doble also finished second in the 2023 ICSA Women's Singlehanded Championship.
Hamilton posted an eighth place finish. She remained in the top five for most of the event, ultimately finishing in eighth place for the third time. Moyer finished in 13th, and Pfrang came in 17th.
Senior Guthrie Braun was the only at-large selection from the open team, and finished sixth out of 18 boats. He remained in the hunt for a podium finish for the majority of the competition, up until the final two races. Braun competed in last year's ICSA Open Singlehanded Championship, finishing in second place.
